What is good speaker match for Rowland 112 Amp ???
My Rowland Concentra II (112 amp) sounds fabulous with Nestorovic 5ASMKIV speakers with silver speaker cable (stranded), solid was not a good match, and has made great music with the Aerial 10T speakers. Jallen
Where do I find spade connectors on line
Micahel Percy is a good place to get parts. The Cardas spades are wonderful. They also carry Vampire, AQ, and are reasonably priced. Jallen
AC Conditioners: Must Have Tweak or More Voodo
Great advice above. I can say that I have benefited from dedicate lines and recommend that you use at least 12ga solid core romex if the run is less that 50 ft., and 10ga solid core if the run is longer. I also recommend that you run it undergroun...
personal experiences with quaility preamps...
Depending on the power requirements of your speakers and the size of room, your needs are difficult to determine. I will however recommend several systems I have heard which sound very good. The Bryston 4BST and BP25 preamp can be had for under 3K...
Krell vs Levinson vs Pass vs Rowland
One more vote for Rowland. The others are good, with the Pass being the most musical of the other three in the systems I have heard. I have a Rowland after selling my tube gear and haven't looked back. I don't think that the Rowland sounds "better...
Need speaker cables for Aerial 10T's
I recently set up a friends system of the Aerial 10Ts using the Bryston 7BST amps with various Cardas cables. The Neutral Reference was warm and rich very ...well... neutral. The Cross was very good also. I tried Straightwire Maestro, but the bass...
Best CD scratch repair/cleaning machine
I have had excellent results with both CD and DVD repairs using CD Fix-It. CD2000, Inc. Palatine, IL 60067. I have saved many CDs I thought were unplayable. Jeff
Upgrade CD player or wait
Jack, I am in the same state of decision you are in now. I was not happy about the DVDA/SACD battle so I bought a cheap CD/DVD player, the Pioneer DVD525 and sold by beloved Theta Data Basic and Muse Model two DAC. What a drop in sound quality. Th...
what is the best speaker cable?
The best speaker cable is like picking your favorite food or flavor. I have numerous "favorites" depending on the speaker and amplifier(s) used. There is no cable which will work very good in all situations. That is why we audiophiles keep chasing...
How's to ground for the dedicated line?
Grounding is a very tricky venture. There are many ways to ground with some not working very well. A copper 10 ft. ground rod works well if you don't have sandy dry soil. If the soil is dense and moist, it will work well. Rebar into a cement found...
Sony 9000es mods and break-in
Jphl, You should be able to break in your unit using a repeat feature on your unit. Use a break-in-track on the purist audio CD, sheffield, reference etc. All that needs to be on is your CD player. Everything downstream only amplifies this signal ...
Silver Cable Question
A few things to consider regarding silver is that not all cables claiming to be silver really are. There are some companies claiming to be silver and they are just silver coated copper. Pure silver 99.999 % silver is very expensive. If you can get...
Any Subs Linn Sondek Oil 1,000,000.00 a gallon
There is a motor oil called MoS2 which uses a moly compound to reduce friction. The motor oil is available at www.bavauto.com and is endorsed by BMW. They have 10w40. I don't know if this is the same oil as Linn oil, but I doubt that Linn is in th...
Copper v. Silver IC sound
This comparison has several problems with it. The two coatings/insulation are different. I prefer copper that has a enamel coating then teflon used as the dielectric. Silver I find is best used with polyethylene not teflon. Perhaps the best compar...
Turntable oil bearing
Another synthetic I think worth investigating is Redline. They offer the usual weights 5w30, 10w30, etc. However, they also offer gear/bearing oil in various weights which is said to be safe with rubber. This oil is the MTL, MT90 and 75/90NS. They...
