concrete slab vs/ wood floor - pros and cons Ill make one last point and then Ill shut up. I find the bantering on many Agon threads to be distasteful. It certainly was not my intention to end up in the middle of this one. And John z my apologies for hijacking your thread. Im sure that y...
concrete slab vs/ wood floor - pros and cons I find the advice regarding our hobby very helpful here on Audiogon. It has helped me immensely in building my system. IMO advise/comments regarding how different building materials/methods may affect the sound of ones stereo or home theater is v...
concrete slab vs/ wood floor - pros and cons As a construction professional and an amateur audiophile my advice would be to tread very lightly with the advice regarding concrete repairs on Audiogon.
conrad johnson CT6 with solid state amp I cant comment on the CT6 paired with SS. Mine is paired with tube amps. But the CT6 is very much a TUBE preamp albeit a little dry with the stock tubes. Try using vintage tubes which are a big improvement over the stock. Both Amperex and Siemans...
Audio Aero Capitole Reference SE Sorry to wander off course, but DCCAs question reminded me how much of an improvement in the Capitol you can also obtain from a good PC. I'm sure everyone has their favorites, but I recently switched to the DCCA Reference One on my Capitol and it...
Audio Aero Capitole Reference SE Elberoth I'm told (same dealership)that the Capitol sounds better through the balanced outputs using RCA cables and adaptors rather than straight out of the single ended outputs. Any comments?
Best 6922 tubes for Conrad-Johnson CT6 preamp I just picked up a used quad of vintage steel pin Siemens ECC88's (6DJ8 equivalent) to try in my CT6. The tubes are dead quiet. They're still a little on the "warm" side like the gold pin Amperex but more transparent and more extended in the highs...
Audio Aero Capitole Reference SE I own the MK2 (with SE upgrade) and recently listened to the new Capitol Reference at a dealership. I dont recall the SE designation but maybe it was. Night and day difference, absolutely not. It did however appear to have better resolution than ...
Isolation Devices for Digital Sugarbrie, I think I was at the same demo. I was the guy sitting next to the pizza (and eating most of it). Any how, I was quite intrigued by the Mini Cloud demonstration and since Ive been wanting to try something new on my CDP I though Id give...
What does more power do for Magnepans? Your 9200 has more than enough power, current and finesse. Put your money towards something else.
Clearaudio Bluemotion If you decide to upgrade the cartridge you might want to look at the Audio Note MM. I forget the specific model but it's their $700 cartridge. I just auditioned the Performance with this cartridge and it is very nice indeed. Really smooths things ...
Best 6922 tubes for Conrad-Johnson CT6 preamp Looks like my other post didn't come through, which was that I run Ameperex white label PQ's in my CT6. They're pricy but worth the money IMO. I've tried both EH and Sovtek which are dull and lifeless in comparrison.
Nos Amperex 12AX7 Bugle Boy's hard to find. Try Andy at Vintage Tube Service. That's where I found mine.
Best 6922 tubes for Conrad-Johnson CT6 preamp Ill second Pabul57s suggestion about contacting RAM or Vintage Tube. Both Roger and Andy are excellent sources. Ive purchased from both. I also use 2 of Rogers Music Reference RM10s in mono with my CT6. A very nice combo indeed. Pick up the p...
Clearaudio Performance Turntable I just auditioned this unit a couple of days ago. Very, very, very musical. The unit I auditioned had an Audio Note MM cartridge, not the Maestro, which Im told is not quite as smooth. Seems to be kind of a no brainer in this price category. |
