Modded 103 & 105 Oppo's?
Saving my pennies to get Ric's 103 to use as a transport. It'll go with his modded DEQ2496 I have with the same new clock.
Ravi Shankar passes.
Yes, my thanks for your comments as well Kijanki. Came across Ravi in the late 60's and have been buying his music off and on ever since, many of those are still among my most deeply favored discs. I find his passing, inevitable as it was, has sti...
Mancave help
Ooops! My bad if I got carried away (I've done it before, Lol). Dispense with the above if you like and I'll just say that the Divas at least *LOOK* like a steal, to me anyway. As for vintage speakers, that's not really my thing so I'd be outta my...
Mancave help
Have never heard them, but have a gut feeling at least that they may turn out to be something of value for you, especially at $250. Just looking at them I can see that they use HiVi M-series woofers, this series of drivers in this size and as well...
Older is better - D/A chip?
I second what Roscoeiii said. Everything else matters too.
VMPS Speakers Co. Closes Down
Saddened to hear this, hope Brian can indeed recover and wishing him all the best.
Hookup wire for tube amplifier?
Looks like there's nothing wrong with what you've stated about copper vs silver here. I can only add to that...except that I wouldn't call copper dark, so much as just mellow. With OCC vs OFC (or silver as well), lower-ordered rhythms are more eas...
Hi-Fi Shop in Colombia, SC
I went inside Upstairs Audio, although it was many years ago. The only reason I remember it was because it made such a completely forgettable impression on me the moment I did - I'll just say that about everything you could imagine to violate the ...
Perfectionist Audio
All my life I suppose my own audio journey has been more defined by my own lack of funds at almost any point along the way. Not that it bothered me all that much. To pass the time when saving up for this or that piece of gear, I read. Actually, I ...
Voltage Problems in the Caribbean
My goto guru for all things power is a dude who has his business on facebook - Alan Maher of Alan Maher Designs. He has lots of experience and quite some grasp of how power grids work all over the globe and what it all means for audiophiles. He ha...
Audiophile Speakers with 25 yr + Longevity
Kijanki, saw the photo and diagram of your driver, but couldn't see how to disassemble it though. If you're still stuck, you can contact someone at Hyperion and ask...that would be a reasonable expectation of anyone to get some kind of answer on i...
Audiophile Speakers with 25 yr + Longevity
I haven't actually seen an actual midrange that uses ferrofluid before, but one thing must be true: the magnetic gap itself cannot be designed to be sealed against contact with ambient air (not and still make the driver be able to move in and out ...
Audiophile Speakers with 25 yr + Longevity
Tweeters that use ferrofluid in the magnetic gap can dry out over years causing (at first) an unexplained channel imbalance in the highs and then progessively both a more rolled-off HF response and decreased power handling...if you play them loud ...
THE GREAT AC OUTLET SHOOTOUT.
Looks like you're already on it. Looking forward to the event! Wish I could be there. Update: Oh, now I see it in your OP... as Gilda Radner would,ve said..."nevermind"...
THE GREAT AC OUTLET SHOOTOUT.
FWIW Peter, one other thing you might also consider is that one of the duplex choices be an ordinary household duplex for comparison's sake. I know, I know - the number of slots available for testing everyone's preferred duplex is necessarily prec...
