What is your take on Mapleshade products
Taters, yes I was thinking of the Stratum, but even Mapleshade's basic powerstrips can offer excellent dynamics basically because they don't take anything away from the wattage coming from the wall, whereas the PPP necesarrily imposes its own watt...
What is your take on Mapleshade products
I second what JI35 Jmcgrogan2 say. I use Excalibur analog IC's (balanced) and the Double Helix digital IC's which I'm not giving up any time soon. I use 2 of the Double Helix IC's since I run one of them out from my Oppo 103 transport to a DIP Com...
What do you mean by "better" when it comes to cabl
Sometimes the more expensive mousetrap is better, but certainly not always. There comes a point, after you've hit on the right things and have 'allowed' rather than 'restored' the signal through the system and you begin to to feel rather confident...
What do you mean by "better" when it comes to cabl
BTW and FWIW, I agree with Mrtennis here in that better, in the end and for the very most part subjectively, simply means what you prefer. Objectively, it may mean the occasional repeatable measurements, such as timing delay or ringing or some oth...
What do you mean by "better" when it comes to cabl
A lot of it starts with good system building first, e.g. properly matched components to begin with. When this is done first, then folks, by definition at this point, are IMO simply concerned with just finding decent wiring that can truly do the jo...
Converting FLAC to WAV and keeping tags?
Interesting, will try keeping an open mind on that.
Converting FLAC to WAV and keeping tags?
There seems to be 2 groups: those that say FLAC sounds better than WAV and those who say they hear no difference. But I find it somewhat interesting that virtually no one is saying that WAV sounds better than FLAC - as if most people were in agree...
Building a Power Strip, any advise?
I suppose you could wait the time it will take for Peter (Pbnaudio) to run his upcoming Great AC Outlet Shootout and consider its results, one way or another, before pulling the trigger on suitable duplexes. But, I know I can recommend one thing y...
Happy freakin NEW YEAR
Thanks, Happy New Year everybody!
Analog and Digital signals: Why settle for less?
That's most probably true about generalizing. I heard I2S only a couple different times and neither were A/B'ed with coax. I liked what I heard at the time, but there have been a few times since that optical actually sounded better to me than coax...
It's time for a good CD player.
You could try an OPPO 103, you might like it fine but, even if you wanted more, you could get Ric Schultz at EVS to modify it for you (no tubes). Player + mods, about $1300 and it will play any format you can throw at it and sound great doing it!
Hello Old Friend
Funny you should say that Doug, I haven't heard that album myself since back in the day and I loved it then. Your post here makes me think I should track that one down on CD if it exists. I think that would surely take me back too!Regards. John
Anti-Vibration pads: which component most?
And: What pads are the best? Are some pads better than others? Do some components respond to pads better than others? Do some pads work better on different shelf materials? All these questions are the same. There just ain't no way in HAYell of kno...
Placement of electronics
I have a CD-only system with 4 electronic components in a backless cabinet that is only 2 feet high and the speakers are pulled out at least 4 feet and this has worked very well, so I, too, second what Grannyring is saying. But, if you can't get a...
Analog and Digital signals: Why settle for less?
Never could figure out why more makers didn't indeed make a more concerted effort to adopt I2S protocol...it just never made too much sense to me. Maybe, to be fair, they knew they were going to drive up costs by including it next to coax on the s...
