Two Type of sound and listener preference are there more?
Maybe it's Not so much different ideas of what systems should sound like, but different ideas of what music should sound like. It's live music or bust, for me, but evidently many folks just don't require any such thing.

Sounds like the Doctor is more interested in drumming up business by oversimplifying the exercise of system building by creating the impression that systems are best designed by only targeting original sound expectations, and that anything falling...

I’m definitely now (finally) in the real is good camp, but that may be merely because I’ve now been after it for 45+ yrs and have managed to cough up enough cash over time for what it was I was ultimately shooting for. IOW, I suspect most folks re...
odd music times pieces
Oh gawd, if you don't know who Don Ellis is....(just shakin' my head is all...)   ;)
What is your listening chair?
@roberjerman, is that tube or ss?
Thinking out of the box here. It might make some defensive
@elizabeth , For connectivity's sake I just soldered a "pigtail", a short length of the same wire of about 4 or 5 inches out of the back of my amp. This is what allows me to change things around with speaker wire. The actual connection is made wit...

Also, the difference in 10 ga and 12 ga wiring at 8ft lengths are likely audibly negligible, even in the deep bass...at rather longer lengths, then yes, you might expect more bass from the 10 ga.

Not entirely sure of your point of misunderstanding per se, but what I believe you are (rightly) making a case for is the idea of a hardwire bypass. IOW, get rid of the (invariably inferior) connector on both the wire And the connected component -...
Conditioning/Burn-In Method
@bullrider97, Your outcome does not surprise me too much. Most of the cooker machines' manuals talk in terms of a time window, or range, of days or hrs needed for a given result and it apparently is not a 'the more time spent on the cooker the bet...
Wide dispersion + high efficiency + detail + coherence in a speaker?
If coherence is truly your biggest point, then you may be better off looking into the idea of designing and building your own speakers. If you are willing to look at something open baffle, then your degree of difficulty will be reduced dramaticall...
Why did it take so long
Weaning off all the hardware associated with the disc itself and recording direct to memory of one form or other currently seems like it might be the next step - no more lasers and player mechanisms, etc helps...if we can actually get to the point...

Teton monitors from Wavetouch Audio - A Must Hear
But in case I did not make the connection clear in the above, the Kapton former's resonance is what is responsible for both the sense of spaciousness And also the lack of clarity in the upper mids and most of the highs...(except for the top end). ...
Teton monitors from Wavetouch Audio - A Must Hear
I bought a pair of Grand Tetons in June of 2015 and during break in I was liking what I was hearing. There was some lack of clarity in the upper mids/lower highs and, despite my having to break in new amps at the same time, was confident the mild ...
Turntable sounds so much better when...
@noromanceI suppose I was briefly tripping over nandric’s last post thinking maybe he was referring to me specifically?? (which was ok if he was) but I take it now that he either meant it in general or had someone else in mind (and that Richard’s ...
