Adding a Herron VTSP 3A/360 Preamplifier to the system.
Muleving, this one is the silver finish. It is one of the first VTSP units made, and has six tubes rather than four. I don't know what possesed me to buy it, just perusing the tube amps and preamps, but when I saw the Herron, I had to have it.I'm ...
Vintage vs Modern speakers.
Thomas, I don't know what you did from the first time I listened to the A7's, but this time, they sounded much better, smoother that the first time. That I could live with untl my time runs out here on this Third Rock.Regards,Dan
A sincere Thank You to AudiogoN members for the congeniality and sharing!
Audiogon is still my most visited website, nothing else come close. There are no audio folks in my neighborhood, it's pretty much Audiogon for my audio enjoyment.Living on an island has it 's percs and it's drawbacks.Best regards,Dan
Townshend Seismic Bars vs Podium
I just put the podiums under my custom Tannoys, very large and heavy 150 liter speakers that needed size four podiums. Their effect was quite positive, but I don't know if they would make that much of an improvement over the bars. For the differenc...
Vintage vs Modern speakers.
Hello Shkong78,Both pairs of speakers are great, but I tend to favor the Lansche pair. A bit more balanced, I feel.At my current age, I don't get out much anymore, so hearing what I've just heard has been a bit of a shock for me. Although I love t...
Adding a Turntable Mat
Another way to change VTA is by getting a Pete Riggle VTA adapter. They work great, and it will  allow an easy, adjustment for most any mat thickness.I haven't used many different tables over the years, but I've been using a Garrad 401 for quite a...
Four MC Phono Cartridges
I would say regarding your 103R?, that's a good time to get it retipped after 11 years. Not too long ago, I got curious about AT cartridges, so I ordered an AT 440MLb MM cartridge. I was so surprised how good it sounded I bought ART9 MC cartridge. ...
I’m in trouble
I also bought the Class D GaN amp, and think it sounds fantastic. Problem is, I've gone through two amps, they both  lasted only a week. They just quit, and won't power up. I'm expecting a third amp, most likely today. Reportedly some poorly made ...
Fidelity vs. Musicality...........Is there a tug of War?
I have worked for years to assemble a system that is musical, and I will gladly live with it until I leave this earth. My system is composed of quality components, not expensive ones. Much of it is built by me, and now all I do is replace or repai...
The "variant" press?

Recommended products for polishing Focal speakers
I use piano polish. It comes with a pre-cleaning bottle, and then the polish. Works great. Cory Super High Gloss piano polish is it's name.
Anybody use tubes in their ht system?
My answer is yes, I  do have a tube preamp, with one of its inputs being from the front speakers on my pre-pro. My stereo speakers are powered by a tube amp and works well.
Reference 3A MM de Capo Be - how do they sound?
You should listen to some Tannoys, you might like 'em.
Speaker Questions and Recommendations
Puppyt, the Tannoys do a better job of making the scale of music closer to realistic sounding. They are not miracle workers though, very few loudspeakers approach that ability.I remember when I first got my drivers and crossovers. I propped the Ta...
Speaker Questions and Recommendations
I will tell you my story. I had a beautiful pair of Rosewood Dynaudio Contour 5.4 speakers I thought I'd keep until I died. But, I couldn't get over the feeling that I had unfinished business with Tannoy. I  sold my Dynaudios, and set about buildi...
