Should we upgrade high end fuses?
The audiophiles that are proposing that "hearing" the difference proves that that difference exists, just like the people that saw that the earth was flat were sure that they were correct, despite the "objective" measurements that proved them wron...
Should we upgrade high end fuses?
But Nrchy I have much experience in changing fuses, as I have posted previously, and I heard no difference. If the only experience that counts for you is experience that agrees with your contentions, then you are, indeed, doomed to not learn from ...
what is good sound ?
Mrtennis, why do you want to "change attitudes about what constitutes good sound"? Have these so-called "attitudes" kept you from enjoying your good sounding stereo?I think that Lloyd has it right.Bob P,.
Should we upgrade high end fuses?
Edkoz, it will make a 95$ difference, maybe less if you happen to install them in the correct direction.Bob P.
Should we upgrade high end fuses?
So, the more fuses one changes the more knowledgeable one is? I have changed fuses often on my power amp since I switch from 240v to 120v often and the only difference that I hear is none, let alone an "improvement". I guess I do know something, h...
IMAGE PROBLEMS VOCALS OFF CENTER
To eliminate the room/speakers as causes, what is the image like with earphones?
Do Cables Wear Out?
Huh, now we can use outdoor speakers to do testing of the audibility of corrosion in copper wires, when a much more accurate visual test is available to detect corrosion. Maybe the difference has more to do with the fact that you have cut off a sm...
Mono Switch?
Yes that "stereo blend" switch on my Dynaco PAS 3x is quite usefull.Bob P.
Do Cables Wear Out?
JWP, just because you are older than me (you have a lot of experience) doesn't mean that you understand oxidation nor corrosion in metals. Silver oxide or sulphide which someone thoughtfully pointed out might conduct better than copper, but not be...
Replacement Fuse's - What are my options ????
TBG, just because there is "continuity", as you put it, doesn't imply that the current flows in only one direction. AC current, by definition, alternates in its direction and voltage, 60 times a second in North America and 50 times a second in mos...
Do Cables Wear Out?
Spl, not all commentary on breakdown or other issues, comical or not, serves us IF the comments are incorrect or misleading. Pabelson's comments are correct. BTW, Jwpstayman, silver oxide IS NOT a good conductor, but it does serve to protect the r...
Replacement Fuse's - What are my options ????
What direction does AC current flow anyway? I think that it reverses its flow 60 times a second, so directionality of fuses seems silly as a concept, but then, so does the whole fuse thing!Bob P.
New 11' x 7' listening room....small speaker?
Actually Ozzy, your dimensions are very poor, all of them almost all multiples of 8! serious piling up of standing waves at the 8 ft dimension (26 is close enough to 24 to be considered as such). The 26,16,10 works well because none is awhole mult...
Seeking hot running amps
Notwithstanding the perceived heat given off by the previously mentioned amps, no amp gives off more heat than its rating, which in the case of tube amps is about 300 watts, 500 watts tops. The smallest electrical space heater gives off more than ...
Replacement Fuse's - What are my options ????
I am still trying to figure out why the direction of the fuse makes any difference on an AC line where the current reverses itself continuously!
