Must have classic recordings
Orff - Carmina Burana -Bizet - Carmen - (opera)
I know this has probably been discussed...
Elizabeth, I don't know about my imagination but yours appears to be quite wild and developed. I doubt that you need to actually listen to music - you could have it in your head directly. I have no bad words for you.
Most sophisticated and intelligent musician
Yup, Miles Davis too.
I know this has probably been discussed...
Elizabeth, how exactly do you want us to do it?
Audiolab, Rowland integrated - nothing in between?
You see, that was exactly my point. Used Rowland goes for about $2500. Why would I want to spend $1500 or so for something lesser instead of waiting for a while? Also, I heard that Naim sounds too forward, don't know about that Australian stuff. I ...
Music you like but rarely listen
I like Pink Floyd too especially Wish You Were Here but don't listen to it often. Not sure why. What you said about stepping back and things returning with more power makes perfect sense.
When does analog compete with digital?
Well, when some time ago I compared two systems, one consisting of a junk Pioneer turntable with no-name cartridge plugged in Yamaha receiver and another consisting of a very good CEC belt drive player and Audiolab integrated, the conclusion was o...
What's First, Interconnects or Speaker?
Yes, the source first approach is usually the best way. It certainly worked for me. But you could experiment and do it differently. Even better - wait and upgrade all at once.
do record cleaning fluids soften the treble?
You see. No wonder that as much as I like tape I hate vinyl. I just have to deal with it. But it's a big pain in the backside and also very expensive.Generally speaking, I too try to do as little cleaning as possible - I let the stylus do the work.
Got Vienna Acoustics Mahler speakers - what amp?
I heard someone say: "When in doubt first try Rowland and Gryphon - it won't be bad at all".
Playing the wifes music choices
No way, never ever, under no circumstances.
Top 5 Rock n Roll Vocalists
Elvis Presley, Ian Gillan. Can't come up with five.People like Sir Paul and John Lennon sing well lullabies not rock.
Japanese Vinyl Pressing
Agreed on Japanese records; almost always better. German vinyl can sound very good too by the way.
Recommend an integrated amp for my Harbeth 40.1's
Though I never heard this particular combination but perhaps used Rowland integrated is also worth considering. His customer support is among the very best too.
Tweaks I'd like to see . . .
New kinds of music and those who can perform it. What we have now is all the same more or less.
