Jeff Rowlands Amp and Dac vs. VAC amp and DAC
To start - I am not one of them. I choose whatever combination I like. Purist would do either full tube or full solid state, more often full tube.
Jeff Rowlands Amp and Dac vs. VAC amp and DAC
I was quite certain you would choose Rowland. Fine tuning with tube preamp is next possible step. In any event, tube preamp/transistor power amp set-up is favoured by many. Especially with digital source. Purist audiophiles would never do this, th...

This should sound like ...well, this should sound right with Wilsons.https://www.audiogon.com/listings/solid-state-27-000-lamm-m2-2-hybrid-power-amplifier-2016-06-11-amp...Take a lot of space though.
Help Me Choose Timber Nation Rack-- All Wood or Threaded Rod?
Not familiar with Timber Nation. Instinctively I would most likely take all wood. But it is hard to be sure without direct comparison.I have a Salamander with rods, MDF shelves not hard wood, and I can tell that it rings. When I put the equipment ...
Is my room going to suck
Near field listening should be fine, no worries. Just move the speakers around to find the best position for them.
Are audiophiles still out of their minds?
It is incorrect to use % in the assessment of the sound. It is either acceptable or not. So..expensive cables are worth paying for, sometimes.
Are audiophiles still out of their minds?
Dracule1, I currently run older Purist Audio Colossus fluid cables that cost over $1k new. In the past I tried couple of $300 cables from Audioquest and Cardas, I also tried a few inexpensive interconnects from them, from Purist and Tara. The prob...
Are audiophiles still out of their minds?
If I had $50k speakers and $35k amps I would still compare $2k speaker cables to $10k cables, so I think this point is valid. But I would not try $300 cable. Let's not exaggerate both sides of the argument. Really good Hi-Fi is expensive and has t...
Are audiophiles still out of their minds?
Still, I don't buy Levi's jeans, I buy vintage Diesel and Dior on ebay. And I never actually tried $3k wine, I tried something close to $1k but I didn't pay for it, it was a gift, and the one who gave it to me didn't pay all that much. That Bordea...
Are audiophiles still out of their minds?
If the whole world is out of mind why shouldn't audiophiles be?Personally, I save on many other things to be able to buy good audio stuff. So $10k for cables is insanity, and $1k for a dinner for two is not?  $3k for a bottle of lovely French wine...
Curious .. What is the compared price of your tt vs spkrs
Yeah, well said.

It's the same everywhere, there are many excellent people but some are too arrogant and inconsidering, and this can become 'radioactive'.I am having a hard time of listening to any digital after analog. Playing the tunes and mixing in the mountain...
Jeff Rowlands Amp and Dac vs. VAC amp and DAC
Let's just remember that this is MP3 sound, so the caution is required. I had heard Paco de Lucia live play that custom Conde that I mentioned. It was absolutely incredible instrument. I never heard Montero guitar.Rinpoche, I think, has an excelle...
Jeff Rowlands Amp and Dac vs. VAC amp and DAC
Rinpoche,Gonzalez, as they say, worked for 20 years in Montero shop, and I can hear that. Besides, his guitar has rosewood back and sides not cypress. Excellent sound indeed.
Jeff Rowlands Amp and Dac vs. VAC amp and DAC
Great Paco de Lucia flamenco guitarist played custom Conde guitars, and I can see why. The Conde is fast precise and balanced with brilliant high frequences. The Montero is warmer deeper and more sophisticated. I would take the Montero any day.My ...
