Help wanted: Bass!
Cables and even power cords can make quite a difference when it comes to bass. But it requires experimentation and it won't be inexpensive.
Question about neutrality and transparency in an amp
No digital system I am aware of can sound rich and warm in a natural way. It might one day but not yet. He was kidding. Adding tube amp in the middle may help create this illusion, but it is what it is - an illusion.
Corner Placement
Who needs a sound without soundstage depth? I certainly don't.
Question about neutrality and transparency in an amp
I would guess that for now your system sounds lifeless and incoherent, not colorless and neutral, which is an abstraction. Also, colored and colorful are totally different things, the former is bad, the latter is good.Analog can also sound cold an...
Your recommendations for cost-effective and musical sounding headphones?
I could say that common sense standard is not to spend less than needed. The difference between Grado 225e and RS-1 is big even when just listening to youtube without external dac/amp. $500 is next to nothing these days. But for most people spendi...
Purist Dominus Ferox vs. Liquid
Not so simple. Some end up with combination of Ferox and fluid cables. I use much lower in line Colossus, Ferox interconnects but fluid speaker cables. My system is not really high resolution. Fluid cables have something that is lost when you swit...
Loudspeakers have we really made that much progress since the 1930s?
We keep perfecting the wheel too. Once something basic is discovered, it's discovered. But, yeah, the spirit of creativity is down everywhere. Rudimentary computer digital times. Sucks.
Upsetting story looking for a solution

Opinions please on integrated for green mountain europas
Yeah, I saw it too. Some say that not ENR is a little more musical, though ENR is more powerful.

I have the original Redgum RGi120, have had it for five years. It's excellent amp, not cold slightly on the warm side for a transistor amp. Excellent dynamics, bass and speaker control. Feels powerful. There is one from Canada here on Audiogon. Off...
Who is you go to for top quality vinyl
I buy only about 10 records a year, sometines fewer, so when I do I don't really care if the record plus shipping costs $30 or $90. I try not to go over $100, so far I was successful. I'd say, it's $50 for a record on average for me. But I chase t...
Looking for an upgrate from Cronus Magnum
I am not sure that the problem here falls into tube/ss dilemma, in a strict sense of it. Yes, amp/speaker match etc., of course. Really good tube amp will give you great drive and bass with many speakers. Rogue is an audiophile value company, the ...
Anyone into cassettes?
I use Nak 682ZX with Maxell Vertex tapes regularly. I make the recordings from records and cds. Not quite as good as my Nottingham Spacedeck turntable but not far. The biggest difference is in soundstage depth.
Your recommendations for cost-effective and musical sounding headphones?
Yeah, this classic Grado sound is very appealing. But I don't use Grado cartridge with my turntable, need something more neutral.

I actually consider the Pharoah to replace my trusty Redgum RGi120 solid state integrated in the future. My speakers need iron fist control or they get too loose. I like slightly loose sound, though.
