Why do I keep torturing myself with remasters?
Oleschool, you have our support. Here is a wild idea. If you can afford it why don't you make a short trip to Japan to get some of the Japanese pressings that you lost? Couple of hundreds of your favourite albums in NM condition might be waiting fo...
Wall Receptacle Oyaide R0, Furutech GTX-G and SR Black UEF
If cost is no object at all, one could try them all. It takes a few minutes to replace a receptacle. Besides, as David said, they might in fact sound just slightly different, not better or worse. What's more, at this level you might also want to m...

Two best remasters on cd that I heard were original MFSL 'Inner Mounting Flame' by Mahavishnu Orchestra and JVC XRCD Getz/Gilberto. I am sure there are many more especially Japanese. That MFSL is in fact the most analog-like sounding cd I ever hea...
Loudspeakers have we really made that much progress since the 1930s?
What a waist. Listening to a great pair of speakers with cd player instead of turntable or reel to reel deck. At the very least they could've done full Gryphon electronics, why Chord and Gryphon in one chain?

Clapton, Santana and Beck can be okay though not really impressive, and John McLaughlin is in a league of his own as a guitar player. However, for the last twenty or so years what he has been playing does not impress me at all, unless he plays old...

Bitches Brew by Miles Davis reissue from Mo-Fi is no good. I have original American 2 eye Columbia and original Japanese. You can't compare. Besides, vinyl itself looks like it's hundred years old.Comparing original American and Japanese, Japanese...

I would start with $50 receptacle from Porterhouseaudio.com.As I understand, Albert himself uses them in his half a million dollar system. They must be good enough.

Come on guys, our goal is to indirectly participate in the OP's sound quests not to work something out for ourselves.

Czarivey, courage is a talent too, wouldn't you agree?

This brings us to another question. Assuming the same quality, is more power always better if the speakers can handle it and won't blow up ?

Maxnewid, well said. By the way, Miles Davis quit that school after a year, I think. But he asked for his father's opinion before doing it, and though his father had doubts, there was no objection.Yes, music and other kinds of 'organized sounds' a...

Agreed. There is no pride anymore, we are becoming a society of sh-tlovers. Disturbing.

I'll take some extra badness if there is much more goodness along with it. Good music is often not recorded very well, this doesn't mean that we all have to listen to it on boomboxes. And if a 'high resolution' system makes the overall experience ...
Why do I keep torturing myself with remasters?
Right. I stopped buying ANY remasters, LPs or CDs, with exception of some Japanese CDs.
