Czarivey, I of course liked Lhasa de Sela most. She's got charm and sense of sound. Very good.I wouldn't call it Gypsy song, you know.

We have a freedom of interpretation of the exotic and have no need to define it in exact terms.I thought that Ofra was okay, but Sussan's voice is much more powerful and has a lot of depth. She might also be a little frightening.

I wouldn't exactly call it exotic but it is certainly unusual. Kim Waters, I think, is her name. Devotion album by Rasa. She sings Indian devotional songs. Good sound quality for a digital.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-Py_GrNL5g

Orpheus10, I am sure our brains have the capacity to handle many subjects at the same time, but let's stay with exotic singing. I saw many videos with Sussan, the longer she lived outside her place of origin the more she was losing her undeniable ...
Do we really need anything more than 8" woofer and 1" tweeter for medium size room?
If I wanted to add subs I too would go with at least 10", but they would have to be fast enough. I keep hearing praise of JL Audio subs, and REL is well-known as a generally good choice for music.
THE most sonically dissappointing (lp) you own of great music?
McLaughlin/de Lucia/di Meola - Passion Grace&Fire. Digital recording and mastering from early 80s. It is listenable but still terrible. Original Japanese LP is best by far. If you can find pro - even better.
Any modern band that comes close to Mahavishnu Orchestra ?
Tostadosunidos, music aside, Oz's fingers are in slow motion.
Where do you go to from Nottingham Analogue ?
I keep hearing about TW turntables. What is its sonic signature? Weak points? Could someone with real experience elaborate in an objective manner? Some special traits compared to other tables in the same league, besides being very quiet? I could l...
Nagaoka MP-500 cartridge
That's why I use Goldring 1042 MM for now and don't consider any MC lower than Lyra Delos. But I thought that Nagaoka 500 could be a meaningful step up from the Goldring. Nottingham Spacedeck/Spacearm, AcousTech phono stage. Not going to upgrade r...

Her name is Azam Ali, born in Iran and raised in India, I think.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MR7Le2ownH0

Sussan Deyhim was born and raised in Iran and first became a dancer. She started recording when she moved to the US. This is her best album as far as I know. The entire album is excellent. The song that I posted is called Nocturnal Dialogue.
What is going on? No-one buys good stuff priced right.
You see, I didn't say that I could ever afford it or that I would buy it even if I could. I always spend less than I can.

Orpheus10, you are right about while we still can. Climate change will finish all this off soon enough, rich and not rich will have the same fun.$20k for a great tonearm sounds reasonable to me. How about $50k for Hermes handbag or $3k for a bottl...
Any modern band that comes close to Mahavishnu Orchestra ?
So, speaking of talent, and only talent not how it unfolded, in my view the best two men with electric guitar are John McLaughlin and Yngwie Malmsteen. With acoustic guitar - John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia. Malmsteen could've become much more t...
Any modern band that comes close to Mahavishnu Orchestra ?
Checked out everyone who was mentioned. Nothing even remotely close to Mahavishnu at its best. It's tough, but it's okay.
