My final table , hopefully !
Mark, I too have the original Spacedeck/Spacearm with Goldring 1042 MM. Pear Audio is in fact new Nottingham, though the old Nottinghams continue to be made. Michael Fremer said of the top of the line Pear turntable that it had tape-like flow and ...
Viva, no longer a fan
I certainly would not deal with companies like that. If they want to fight grey market they got to find other ways of doing it. If originally the product was bought from an authorized dealer it must be serviced regardless of the number of owners b...
My final table , hopefully !
Mark, what do you have and what catridge do you use? I didn't mention Nottingham because they are talking VPI and the OP seems to have set his mind. Though there are not too many Nottinghams in the US, still you very rarely see them for sale. But ...

Metaxas, sounds Greek to me too. I took a look at his website. He is an artist involved in many different things. Never heard this name before. There are a number of European companies that are virtually unknown over here, or known only to a very ...
Help me choosing an Integrated Amp
I think, you can never rule it out. However, another brand I am interested in - Ypsilon - has aesthetics that I don't care much about. And yet another - Lamm - is just fine with me.
Would increasing the gain in the amp give more weight to the sound? Any negatives?
I was talking about phono not deck. By the way, I didn't mention it because it doesn't bother me, but my CEC belt drive cd player also sounds better in this respect when routed thru the deck. It seems that the deck doesn't mind passive preamp, tho...

Gryphon aesthetics is quite unique, I like it too.
Would increasing the gain in the amp give more weight to the sound? Any negatives?
Well, from what I can get there doesn't appear to be any components and cables mismatch, I think it comes down to the fact that passive preamp is no way to go if you want full-bodied sound, and this was confirmed by many here who tried it both way...

"Junk" should not be taken literally, of course. I know that my Redgum integrated cannot really compete with Gryphon integrated, it sounds pretty good though. For fun I listened to my Redgum on youtube too and could recognize the sound. Then I lis...

Mapman, you can ask me anything you want. Question is can you accept that what you have and what I have is junk compared to some of what's out there including Gryphon ? As for youtube 'auditioning', it gives you some ideas if your hearing and your...
RMAF Etiquette
If you need more than one minute under just about any conditions to initially evaluate the sound of the system - it is no good for you. No, not a place for critical listening, but as others have said that's not the goal of the shows. Just like a g...
Anyone has a sound like that ? Impressive.
What is also remarkable of the Ypsilon/Lanshe/Thales/HB cables system is that it should work very well in normal size rooms not 2000 sqf rooms, and those Ypsilons and Lansches are in fact their entry level models except the phono stage, I think. A...
Anyone has a sound like that ? Impressive.
First thing I would do with VAC/Grand Utopia set-up is to replace the table and cartridge, the table is lazy and has no real drive, the cartridge is bright and not coherent enough. Then I would replace those no name Shunyata cables, I don't think ...

Nak's output voltage/impedance is 1v/2.2kohm. Plays real good.
Would increasing the gain in the amp give more weight to the sound? Any negatives?
Found it. The Nak's input impedance is 50kohm.
