Looking For 90% of the performane of the super expensive cables for much less money
Yeah, I remember the thread about Furutech and Synergistic outlets, got me confused a little. Rhodium plated or gold plated, they were claimed to sound different. I just need one, so price difference is non-issue, though blue would look terrible.

"Audiophiles' who can't hear well or/and perverse enough are not worth arguing with, it only amplifies whatever they are at.I had $1 receptacle replaced with new $7 duplex and yes, there was a very slight improvement in clarity and dynamics. I sho...
"Dead Can Dance", what is your impression?
The 'original' Dead Can Dance was great. This song is cross between junk and double junk.
Which Nakamichi to choose?
I heard that Dragon requires more maintenance, and I bet 682ZX records better. ZX-9 is extremely rare and very expensive, great machine, but 682ZX has a classic Nakamichi sound which many prefer. 680ZX is probably the best value overall, though I ...
thoughts on phono stage
I think, I would upgrade both turntable/cartridge and phono stage, possibly cables as well. Table is even more important than phono stage. I am not sure about electrical compatibility, but you could add Lamm to your list.
Studer vs Otari
I don't think Studer plays back quater track pre-recorded tapes but Otari does. Unless of course you have a custom headblock for Studer. Yes, outboard playback head pre-amp. That would be another project. I would probably start this by asking Ralp...
120v to 240v Adapter to power Amp in USA
That's another option, sure, but if $165 for a transformer is too much then paying electrician may be no less or more. Besides, what if he doesn't like the amp and sell it in a month ? Transformer might somewhat degrade the sound... What about the...

120v to 240v Adapter to power Amp in USA
DON’T DO IT !What you want is a step-up transformer. I would try this - https://acupwr.com/No personal experience but I read good things about them. I would get more power than required by your amp’s full power. Some say - double the power, though...
Best Loudspeakers for Rich Timbre?
Spending $10 on cables would get anyone nowhere, unless you steal these cables and $10 is your taxi bill. It is remarkable that many don't understand that cables are components, they are equally important. Another mistake is to think that they are...
Which Nakamichi to choose?
This will provide a good test of the system sensitivity and your hearing. Get two Walker 1/2" resonance control discs, $50 each.Place one very near Nottingham motor without it touching the motor holder, place another one on top of the deck where t...
Which Nakamichi to choose?
Once aligned and tuned my deck keeps it for quite some time. I also treat playback head with LAST tape head preservative before playing every cassette, it lasts for two sides. This is not a substitute for cleaning, of course, only a complement. Wh...
Which Nakamichi to choose?
There is more than just losing highs with dolby - sound loses fullness. Tape hiss is inevitable but can be minimized, you do need excellent deck and tapes for that. Besides, almost all older recordings have tape hiss to various degree.
Best Loudspeakers for Rich Timbre?
I don't have a specific recommendation but I do think that the OP wants very high performance level. And the rest of the system, including recordings, should be up to this as well. $50k set-up for a medium size room ? At least.
