Recommendations for really well-recorded music for high-end audio system demo
@jastralfu  , based on that, I may put The Immaculate Collection on my own list.
Thumper’s Mother
I always thought that as long as politics are not involved, the discussions are usually pretty civilized.  I guess "usually" is the operative word.
Is The Audio Asylum Down?
Audioasylum.com is UP and reachable by us. Too bad.
So, a reviewer just said something I need to talk about.
I care about music. And I care about sound, as a path to creating a more connected, more enjoyable listening experience. I totally agree with that, @woofman74 . However, in the past I was never a big fan of jazz or classical, and over the last...
Double up on speaker cables
I just did a real quick google and Rockport Atria 2’s are 38k a pair?  If I could afford a pair of those, I'd find a way to afford some real good speaker wire.  Those must sound incredible.
Watts! How many do we need?
As I think I remember @ghdprentice  typing, I have also read that maybe not all watts are created equal.
Tube preamp topologies and music
@gochurchgo  , in a discussion about the definition of the term "musical" I once made the comment that a SET amp would be the wrong amp for a head banger.  At least two (possibly more) members informed me that I was dead wring, and also that 4 wpc...
Help with high end bookshelf speakers
@deep_333  , how long does it take you to compose these pearls of stupidity?  I hope you don't waste too much of your valuable time thinking this crap up. Sorry to burst your bubble, but, a 11 by 12 closet is not hifi, it is about as lofi as it ...
Do you belong more to souce first or to speakers first school of thought ?
Spend full budget on Shun mook discs and Shakti stones....no speakers and sources are needed. Just start singing, dancing and tossing shakti stones around   --> quickest path to audio nirvana. That will only work if you cover all your walls ...
My new B Stock speakers
@james633 , thank you again for that link on positioning "book shelf speakers." After I finished up my session last night, I finally got into that link; then I went back into my room and did some massive repositioning. Not to overload with detail...
Do you belong more to souce first or to speakers first school of thought ?
@kingsleuy , I bought my very first system at the SAFB BX in ’79 and it was also a Magnavox! I did it on lay-away. (It would not have strapped onto the back of a mc though, I picked the rack system that had the biggest speakers of all of the rack...
Recommendations for really well-recorded music for high-end audio system demo
Last night when I finished up I did some major speaker repositioning and I just got finished with six hours plus of delicious break-in/auditioning of those Revel speakers. Because of that, I thought of three more tracks that might meet your criter...
Marantz SA10 sacd player
This doesn’t apply to the SA10 or any of the more expensive CDPs, but the second CDP I ever had was a Carver vacuum tube CDP that I bought in '94 and used standing alone and then as a transport for an outboard DAC. Anyway, it was in my system for ...

Good source will sound better on mediocre speakers than mediocre source will sound on good speakers.  I think that there may be something to this.   I would have defined "source" as ALL the electronics in front of the speakers, but I am thinki...
Speaker Slip Covers
Good job on the kitten rescue! Also, watch out for the speaker wire.  We rescued a kitten back in '01, and I caught her chewing on the Kimber wire.  I bought some spiral wrap at an auto parts store to protect my speaker wires from her teething pe...
