Will skinny-leg diode restrict amperage compared to fat-leg bridge rectifier?
there is no fuse that blow at start-up. Since the mains fuse can pass inrush current which is much higher than the rated value, why worry it will restrict current flow? I am just exploring amplifier performance enhancements, at the expense of...
wiring advice
Each transducer has an impedance of 8 ohm, and a power rating of 5W RMS / 10W peak. The total power requirement of 8 transducer = 8 X 5W = 40W RMS The amp impedance range is either 2-8 ohm (specs) or 3-8 ohm (printed on the amp itself), and c...
Will skinny-leg diode restrict amperage compared to fat-leg bridge rectifier?
The two main higher amperage fuses i will replace with aliexpress Aucharm fuses...with a rating of 1amp higher than what was taken out...just to get the size of the wire a bit larger. Why a correct rated fuse blow at start-up? Think about it! ...
bi-amping with Tube and SS amp
🤔😜
bi-amping with Tube and SS amp
@ei001h  I have a SS 5 channel amp, am I able to use just 2 channels out of 5 and not cause any damage to the amp ?  Since most SS amplifier can stay on without load connected to its output, it is perfectly OK to use just 2 channels out of 5. ...
bi-amping with Tube and SS amp
@mceljo is correct. You need a switcher with built-in dummy load to connect both tube amp and HT amp to your speaker. Amplifier-Receiver-Speakers-Selector-Switcher The resistor dummy load is to protect the tube amp’s output transformer from ...
Turn it up...?
Check your mains voltage.
How to choose an upgraded tonearm.
It’s also amazing the amount all of us don’t know. Like why an outboard pod is not advisable, especially the pods shown in those photos Technically, outboard armpod is not the best solution, but OP want to try other tonearm without drilling, th...
How to choose an upgraded tonearm.
I’m not going to take a chance on doing any type of modification to the table of my VPI Classic 2. How about an outboard armpod and transform your table to dual arm setup? https://www.whatsbestforum.com/threads/outboard-armpod-project-for-sme-...
Accuphase E-260 Voltage Conversion (100V to 230V)
@frankhhh As I mentioned, confirm which wire belongs to which primary winding by a DMM! If convert 100V to 220V or 230/240V, you need to 100% sure the resistance between gray wire and blue wire is 0 ohm, use a ohm meter to measure before connec...
Accuphase E-260 Voltage Conversion (100V to 230V)
I'm glad everything worked out fine. 🥂
Accuphase E-260 Voltage Conversion (100V to 230V)
Thanks @frankhhh for posting the pictures of E-260 and E-270. If I understand you correctly, E-260 and E-270 primary winding color as follow: winding on E-260 / E-270 1. 120V orange / yellow 2. 100V red / orange 3. 0V gray / red 4. 120V yell...
Accuphase E-260 Voltage Conversion (100V to 230V)
@frankhhh I believe E-270 basically has the similar connection, Accuphase changed the color code on E-270 primary winding wires from E-260. Sorry I can’t see the color very clear from your picture, please confirm if the setting shown on your pi...
Is rectifier tube arcing a problem?
Just like seat belt and air bags, more protection is better, IMO. However, some might think that put a silicon diode in a tube power supply is a sin! If that’s the case, you can install soft start alone. The soft start device is a CL-70 NTC ther...
Is rectifier tube arcing a problem?
Yes, I found a picture on the web that show the details You can solder the diodes on the socket and move the wires accordingly. you can use 1N4007 diode, but UF4007 is better (lower noise) and just cost a few cents more. BTW, if you interested...
