What does a subwoofer solve?
According to manufacturer specs M900u balanced input impedance 34 kΩ and BHK 300 mono blocks balanced input impedance 200 kΩ. If the preamp has high output impedance that may explains the Luxman doesn't has enough bass.
Is a separate phono pre really necessary?
The wrinkle is the loading requirements for the zephyr mimic star: >= 470 ohms. This makes a lot of phone preamps really not suitable for this cartridge You can make cartridge loading plug with desired resistance for your phono stage. https...

Nordost Speaker Cable?

Could I still use my Pioneer Receiver as 2nd Pre-Amp. since the RX-1070 has a  2nd set of OUTPUTS? It's not advisable because the two sets of outputs on the RX-1070 are paralleled, if the preamp mute its output by shorting the output to ground...
Yamaha M 5000
How would you describe its sound in less than three words? 😞 Nothing special.
HK Citation Amp 12 ..Another question about DC
I am buying a HK Citation 12 amp...I read an HK article which stated that the unit does have speaker protection but does NOT have DC Fault Protection. Should I put inline fuses to protect my speakers ?... Fuse cannot provide DC fault protectio...
Cartridge Loading for a phono pre amp
And did you choose 100 ohms, 47 kph, or something in between? @holmz Sorry for the late reply, finally get the tax return filed! 😌 For the Denon DL-103, I chose 1kΩ, because I don’t want to use a too low resistive load to load down the cartr...
Cartridge Loading for a phono pre amp
@holmz  I always prefer phono stage featured user select-able loading option, so the user can choose their preference.
Cartridge Loading for a phono pre amp
Although theoretically loading will affect the compliance of the cartridge, and 100Ω loading made the cartridge work 470 times harder than 47kΩ loading. But since the coil resistance is much lower than the loading resistance, I think the effect on...
Cartridge Loading for a phono pre amp
@rauliruegas Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been busy with my accountant try to file tax return by next Monday. I did the Hi-Fi News resonance test on a Denon DL-103 and set the loading at 100Ω and 47kΩ, seems like both loadings unsusceptible t...
Cartridge Loading.....Part II
@600ohms  Care to elaborate? Thanks
Does a graphic equalizer show where your amp is lacking?
I recently purchased a Schiits Loki equalizer and was surprised at the amount of added detail it provided to the music most noticeable in the higher frequencies... Could be your ears! Some 60+ year old can't hear frequency higher than 10kHz.
Cartridge Loading for a phono pre amp
@rauliruegas  Thanks for your test LP recommendations, I will look it up. BTW, I already have Hi-Fi News Test LP- The Producer's Cut  and The Ultimate Analog Test LP by Analog Productions.
Cartridge Loading for a phono pre amp
Perhaps I'd have a different result with a different phono cartridge. We have a loading strip on our preamps too, and I advise customers with LOMC cartridges to not use it. But if you have a higher output cartridge, the loading strip can be qu...
Cartridge Loading for a phono pre amp
I use an ARC Ref Phono 2SE balanced into a Ref 5SE. With an MC cartridge, the difference between 47K and 100 ohm loading is virtually undetectable and may even be zero. (You can use the Ref Phono remote to change loading from your listening chair...
