Best pricing on Salamander Arecetype?
I don't know about right now, but when I bought mine, Audio Advisor had the best prices, although I think they were so low due to some sort of promotion. Cheers!B
Placebo Effect...a good thing?
Dbwl, I shot any chance of THAT excuse working after giving my Dad a few stock tips last year (buy high, sell low, or vice-versa? I get the two confused :). But maybe I can cram the guts of a Wadia 830 into the chassis of my old Kenwood CDP? "No m...
Placebo Effect...a good thing?
If I told my Mom that Dad said it was alright, I'd just be getting my Dad in trouble. Everytime we come home with a new toy to audition, she says nothing (most of the time), but we both get a good dose of "the look." Especially with stuff that doe...
Placebo Effect...a good thing?
By the way...what is this Wife Acceptance Factor you're talking about. Ha!(Try Mom Acceptance Factor.)
Placebo Effect...a good thing?
Hey guys, thanks for all the great comments. As for my Dad, I got HIM into audio. Needed a CD player, went to the store, came back with a Marantz CD6000 (great player for the bux!), and plopped it into my dad's office system (he was using the comp...
www.diyhifisupply.com???
Oh, someone just posted a review of their amps and service on audioasylum, in the SET section.
A minor rant
Coupling? Decoupling? Tweaking? This is beginning to sound less like an audio discussion and more like a Ron Jeremy Film :)But seriously folks, in my experience decoupling, i.e. ball bearing, cones, tiptoes, etc. etc., Works better when high frequ...
www.diyhifisupply.com???
P.S. The asylum member also said that the Valve tubes came in top condition, although they had recieved no burn-in.
www.diyhifisupply.com???
I almost bought an amp kit from this guy. Didn't have the cash at the time, but he was MORE than gracious in his approach to my sale, AND REPEATEDLY lowered his price to intice my buy. A fellow asylum member recommended his product to me, and told...
Break in period for power conditioners ?
As with ANY solid state (and tube) electronics, there is always a "break-in" period in which the electrons of the metals in the circuit settle. But I doubt that any break-in period will solve your woes. From what I have seen, an upgraded power cor...
What amp to match with B W 601 s2?
I use a Rotel 985BX integrated. Sounds great, but in my small room I'd prefer the Linn Majik. Only 33 watts, but it kicks butt! Borrowed one from a dealer friend, under a thousand bucks used. Or the creek 4330R. Also very, very nice.
B W 601 S2
Had 'em for about a year. Demo's don't do them justice, they sound MUCH better after 200+ hours of burn-in. All the grain just goes away, and what is left is midrange clarity. Needs a subwoof-woof, though, 'cuz there isn't a whole lot of low info,...
I am Not hurting anything right ??
In response to Sdcampbell and KennyT, as a matter of fact you DON'T feed a full range signal to both terminals in a bi-wire configuration. Through some unexplained phenomenon (I'm being serious), the crossovers somehow limit the frequencies being ...
Check this out...you might implode.
Yeah guys, I thought this was funny. These guys really are serious about that sub, too. I just wanna find out where it is...and so does the Russian government :)
Upgrade from Audioquest Lapis
I use homegrown audio interconnects, and they are fabulous. Ridiculously cheap, too. www.homegrownaudio.com. The silver lace is amazing. I use it from preamp to amp. Just beware. It takes a hair-pullingly long time to break in. I almost sent 'em b...
