Help me tame my out of control bass
@djones51 the mic was in the listening position. Given the untreated ceiling and windows on the left it’s safe to assume everything you’re seeing is the room. I can take a measurement directly in front of the speakers tonight or tomorrow, when I’v...
Help me tame my out of control bass
@oldhvymec You know it’s funny, I didn’t think I had a problem with mids until I moved them into the current position (the orange line) and you can see that those deep troughs in the MB region improved significantly and it was like lifting a veil....
Help me tame my out of control bass
Try miking your speakers like 1' away and see if your 120 Hz bump is still there. If so, it may be a microphone artifact@erik_squires Yep, still there even mic’d directly in front of the speaker. So to oldhvymec‘s point it could be a crossover is...
Help me tame my out of control bass
Definitely aware of the back wall reinforcement, however the room isn’t big enough to allow moving the couch forward more than a few inches. I’m also aware that probably limits how much improvement I can realistically make here.Don’t get me wrong,...
Help me tame my out of control bass
It is a calibrated mic (miniDSP uMik-1).I just don’t have any other explanation for that spike at 120hz, which is present even when I EQ 120hz to zero. I’m at a complete loss what that could be.
Recommendations for modern integrated with tone & balance controls other than Mcintosh
I wonder if you could have an audiologist test you and give you the specific frequencies you’re losing and use Roon’s parametric EQ to compensate where you need.Of course that would only work for streaming.
Looking for a new phono preamp
Can’t compare to other stuff in the thread but I got the Stellar last year and have been thrilled with it.
Super integrated vs equivalent +$$ for new main system
I went through a similar search recently and landed on the Aesthetix Mimas which I highly recommend. Absolutely musical and holographic.
Do you need a Roon Ready device to stream Roon?
They’re both connected to the router and therefore on the same network and able to “see” each other and send information back and forth. Both are also connected to the internet in this scenario and able to check Roon’s site for updates. No differe...
Is it worthwhile to upgrade an old but quality DAC?
I personally don’t think so. DAC designs have come so far in the last few years, particularly in how they handle jitter, and they’re much more flexible and future proof now with networking capabilities and format handling.I believe that Altis is a...
Do you need a Roon Ready device to stream Roon?
I’m not sure I fully understand your question, but both the Roon Ready device and the Nucleus would need to be connected to ethernet on the same router (or at least the same network) to see each other.
Best integrated for my purposes - help me choose 1 of 3!
Why not a Hegel? You should be able to get an H200 or similar on the used market, checks all your boxes. Over performers for the money.
Suggest one obsure album we all should hear
Mercury Rev - See You on the Other Side Fantastic 90s psychedelic indie rock record, produced by one of the members of the Flaming Lips. Incredible record and a great recording, especially on vinyl.June - I Am Beautiful If you like Throwing Muses ...
New to streaming, looking for a budget streamer
I use the Allo USBridge to great success. It’s an Ethernet-to-USB Bridge, works as a Roon endpoint. Pretty simple and affordable.
New cartridge $500 range
The Sumiko is already a pretty good $500 cartridge, I agree with others that your better bang-for-buck upgrade would be a phono stage, highly recommend the Dynavector P75 which you should be able to pick up used in that price range. Huge upgrade a...
