Best MC cart for Thorens TP16 MK1? Just closing the loop here for future info. Again, I have a Thorens TD-160 with TP16 MK1 tonearm. I ended up purchasing a VAS Ebony 103 moving coil cartridge. It's essentially a DL-103 with the same compliance, but it's much heavier due the wood b...
Upgrade Suggestions for Turntable/Cartridge/Preamp chain I'd be interested in what amp and speakers you're running, too. But based on what you listed, I'd start with upgrading the TT. The carts are decent enough. There's a point of diminishing returns when you put a high-quality cart on a so-so deck. Sp...
Integrated / speaker pairings in the $6-7K range ProAc Tab 10s and Audiolab sing in my living room.
Sweet new tube amp needs better speakers Based on your taste of music and wanting more laid back (as opposed to up front and bright), I'd look at JBL L100, KLH Model Five, or Klipsch Forte III or IV (which are highly sensitive).I do run ProAc Tab 10s in one of my systems...granted, books...
Opinions and choices for a small speaker for mid sized room. I can vouch for ProAc Tablette 10. Incredibly detailed, not too bright, can really crank em up if need be. If you're using with a sub, it would be incredible. And they're closed cab, so they can get into tight spaces without screwing up performance.
Best MC cart for Thorens TP16 MK1? Thanks all. Appreciate the responses and reviews. Very helpful. For those that asked, I'll most likely be running the cart through a NAD 106 preamp that has a MM/MC stage switch. I also have a Vincent PHO-701 tube preamp (with DIP switches) in ano...
MC cartridge upgrade for a Schiit Sol (Denon dl-103r) help! If your tonearm truly is 13g, that's moderate and excellent fit for Denon 103R. And based on the math, it puts you in the sweet spot of roughly 10-11Hz resonant frequency. It should be noted that most Japanese companies measure the compliance of th...
High End Portable Wireless/Bluetooth Speaker I would check out Sonos Move. Has wifi and bt, but I don't think it takes ethernet.
Which would you buy & why? Class A for best fidelity, but no idea what speakers you're running. I believe in speakers first, then finding the right amp to pair with them.
What Amplifiers Have You Heard In Your System and What Amplifiers Will You Always Keep Sansui au-999Harman Kardon 330cKenwood ka-3500Audiolab 6000aLove them all. Keeping them all.Crown d-75 power amp. Waiting to refurbish then I'll decide whether to keep :)
Recommendation for amp I can vouch for the PSAudio Sprout 100...small form factor, great DAC, BT included, excellent clarity and lotsa power.
Impulse Records: Music, Message And The Moment I'm listening to this right now. It's really impressive. The song choices are well thought out, fidelity is excellent. I have a couple of the tracks on original vinyl and it's totally on par. However, as an FYI, and it might have just been my copy...
Recommended cheaper vintage SS Integrated Amps? I own a KA-3500 and love it. Punches way above its 40 watts and has a wonderfully clean sound. It's often overlooked with people always going to Sansui or Marantz. I also have a Harman Kardon 330c receiver, and I think this is actually warmer than...
British Integrated Amps Forgive my comment concerning Scottish/British reference...I meant true English company. But really, isn't everything owned by IAG anyway? :)
British Integrated Amps In one of my rigs, I'm currently running Linn Basik/Akito>Audiolab 6000a>ProAc Tab 10. Sounds amazing. But really, that's two former Scot companies and one true Brit. I also have a Rega P1 using Mission 737R speakers that I thoroughly enjoy ... |
