Bye Bye Puppy!
I used to sell or trade.  But you always come back to that one piece of music on what you had that just doesn't sound the same (or correct).  What this has turned me into is a buy and hold person.  You will miss those pups, if not for but a few pi...
Best Integrated that you've heard under $5k
It all depends on your speakers.  I have the Decware SE34I.5 and it is the best integrated I have ever heard.  That said, it is 6 watts/channel so it requires highly efficient speakers.  I have it hooked to some Altec Lansing A7-500's and it is th...
Who Were Your Mentors
I would have to say that my best mentor is my ears.  They are what they are and have guided me to what I like.  What I like though, may not be what your ears like.  I started collecting right out of high school and haven't stopped.  When I went to...
How long do good speakers last?
Mine are over 62 years old and still doing great.  I did have a friend that had some surround failure on his JBL L-150's.  They highly suggested to keep it out of direct light.  UV is not a friend.  At the very least use your speaker covers.
AudioControl Amps and Processors
I wouldn't buy without a serious opportunity to test listen.  This is a class H amp.  While new tech can be appealing, its not the tried and true.  I watched this guy trying to sell the unit and he refers to it as just above entry level and what I...
AudioControl amp/pre amp
I don't know class H well at all and have never listened to it.  That said, I understand that it works similar to a class D.  The class H keeps it in analog, where the D is digital, I believe?.  That said, I have listened to class D and use in one...
Tube Amps, Magnapans and Impedance
The big thing is, does it sound good?  Everything else is as you said, a case of "wish I had a system like this blues".  I had some Maggie 3.5's and loved them.  I will have to say that they do love current.  I would tell people that they are slig...
Still happily using vintage gear?
You definitely don't need new to sound great.  Glad to know there are so many that feel as I do.  My oldest is a pair of Altec Lansing A7-500's, with a receipt from 1958.  They remained boxed until I assembled in 2020.  The most musical speakers I...
Poor Customer Service
Ha, this is a great list of guilty people that need to trudge before all and feel our shame.  I would like to add to the list:Van Alstine, B&W and Linn.  Van Alstine actually suggested I just throw their amp away, which I did.  Great service: ...
Linn Basik restoration
Good luck on any assistance with Linn in the USA.  Call a dealer near you though and put the burden on them.  They are representing after all.  https://www.linn.co.uk/us/try-linn  I own a fair amount of Linn, hate the support but love the sound.  ...
What is the value of Classe P401 ?
Absolute worse nightmare.  I am so sorry, I feel your pain and loss.  Now you have to deal with idiots that want to mess with you.  You knew the value and that's why you insured for what you did.  You are dealing with bereavement and loss and they...
New to me speakers
Let me just say before this goes too far, Millercarbon will say get the Tekton's and others will say anything but the Tekton's.  What that says, in just that exchange that will take place, there is no perfect speaker.  There is only that perfect s...
Opinions and choices for a small speaker for mid sized room.
Blumenstein does a wonderful job.  Very efficient for their size and sound is wonderful.  They also do wonderful cabinet work for appearance.  From there it also gets into how big, is too big.  Guessing something like JBL43XX's might be too big?  ...
Building a new system…looking for thoughtful recommendations
Welcome to the world I had some 3.5's and absolutely loved them.  They changed the way I look at my hi-fi items.  I sold them to a friend and gravely miss their sound.  So now, when I buy new hi-fi, I buy and hold.  There is very seldom a sell.  I...
