Are You Happy With Your Phono Preamp?
While researching phono stages looking for the best price/performance, on another’s  post, “PS Audio Stellar Phono (buy audio magic ultimate beeswax shd fuse $225- big improvements)” A lot of buzz about those fuses. 😎 The old ARC PH2 i was usi...
What's better, one conductor or two conductors for an RCA interconnect?
@jumia Specifically I was using Mogami Neglex 2534… 2x blue, and 2x clear, and the shield. https://mogamicable.com/category/bulk/microphone/quad/ The Mogami is in a brown jacket, so that the WAF abides it laying on a brown wood floor. I usually...

What's better, one conductor or two conductors for an RCA interconnect?
I dunno @jumia - I needed an XLR to RCA and was not about to pay money and time awaiting a cable.   And it even sounds OK. The soldering looks a bit rough, but once the end is screwed on, you cannot see it.

What's better, one conductor or two conductors for an RCA interconnect?
So how does the RCA connector accommodate 2 connectors(positive and negative) and a ground wire. ^Twist them together.^   I put together some XLR to RCA yesterday. On the Neutrik XLR: The two clear wires twisted together to pin 2. The tw...
Which would you choose for good sounding tube preamp for an audiophile new to tubes.
Supratek @dentdog  I am heading there in a few weeks.
Phono stage options - balanced with XLR both input and output...
@hagtech @lewm , phono cartridges are indeed balanced items. Just because the device does not have a third ground wire does not mean it is not balanced. In this case it is the tonearm that is grounded by the third wire. Or the third rail? 😎...
What's better, one conductor or two conductors for an RCA interconnect?
@atmasphere AFAIK we should write symbols of units named after person with capital unit letter V, kV, A, kA, kHz, kW etc. but spelled out units with lowercase : volts, amperes, ohms, watts. Multiplier doesn’t change that, so it will be kilovolts,...
What's better, one conductor or two conductors for an RCA interconnect?
Perhaps mentioning "KHZ" is pedantic, but it make me suspicious about your experience in electronics.  None of my fellow engineers would write it like that.  As for "deflecting" from technical discussion - it deflects less than bragging about PhD...
Which would you choose for good sounding tube preamp for an audiophile new to tubes.
I owned a 1990’s Tubed CD Player… was warm but completely lacking in details. I can’t help but thinking an ancient preamp would sound similar. The VTL is equally old. The 1990’s tube equipment tended to be really warm but lacking in detail. There...
Do Recording Studios Use Silver Cables
As a class, recording artists are like any other. There are some that extremely knowledgeable and some who are completely ignorant. Just like audiophiles. 🤣 When did they become recording artists? I thought they were recording engineers.
Do Recording Studios Use Silver Cables
What I was getting at was that top artists record at studios that have state-of-the-art equipment.  Those studios wouldn’t use interconnects that are lower quality than the rest of their gear.  I expect that there are some people on the forum who...
Do Recording Studios Use Silver Cables
Studios use Mogami, Canare or other good cheap copper by the kilometre or mile.
Phono stage options - balanced with XLR both input and output...
Holmz, the presence of XLR connectors does not necessarily mean that the signal is treated in balanced mode. I don’t know what’s inside your PH2, but AR is not known for balanced circuits. There is a better chance of a balanced circuit when we ...
