Moving from integrated to separates
… but I think the rather benign (relatively speaking) impedance of the speakers helps, and to my surprise the amp is driving the speakers quite well. Even the bass is quite tight and punchy a far as tube amps go. To be very honest, I can easily ...
Are Expensive Balanced Interconnects Necessary?
That's not at all how a differentially balanced circuit works. A differentially balanced circuit uses both an inverting and non-inverting signal at its input, then amplifies the voltage difference between the two signals to produce the output. D...
Speaker and AVR impedence correlation
This statement: I read that I should find an AVR with 4 ohm minimum impedence as well   Should probably more accurately be written as: I read that I should find an AVR with at least 4 ohm impedance, if not a lower 2 ohm impedance.     ...
Are Expensive Balanced Interconnects Necessary?
The most common theory – which works well for me, because it coincides well with what I usually hear – is that single-ended connection (and gear) produces a natural spectrum of musical harmonics, same as in real life, while balanced gear (and con...
Words of wisdom on choosing a speaker
This deal about tuning speaker to one’s hearing would be like trading in a wife or husband every year one with a higher pitched voice… so as one hearing looses the higher pitched sounds… just get a higher pitched partner. This is so nonsensical a...
Turn down the Volume!
One of my "pet peeves" is when we go to a venue and the sound reinforcement engineers have the volume so high, that the room won't accommodate it. Me too. https://www.amazon.com.au/Etymotic-High-Fidelity-Earplugs-Clamshell-Packaging/dp/B00RM...
Room tuning or listen to as is condition?
… I need to learn how to post with an image here. I wanted to share my measurement graph from REW, not sure how to do this here. … Without the graphs this is as interesting as your web site… Please figure out how to get those images placed in,...
Has anyone had on of these CD players? How good are they?
How much is it @2psyop ? If it is cheap enough and sounds OK, then just take a dive.
Anyone have experience with acousticfields.com or with using true pressure traps?
... It appears that speaker/listening room placement is the only way to minimize the effect of nulls? Correct, a null and a peak are destructive interference and a constructive interference respectively. However the room dimensions will define...
What Is Most Important?
@bobpyle you are correct. It should be about audio, but people drag in God, politics, electric vehicle and wherever else is their “piss off de Jur”. Sadly we cannot stick to what is the sole common thing amongst us.
What Is Most Important?
@serjio I think I understood you fine… If the omniscient and omnipotent good lord did not want us to be tempted by the devil then we might wonder why he created him? And if he did not want us to eat the fruit at the garden of Eden, then why po...
Your thoughts on selling
That’s a terrible idea on how to sell vinyl. I sold all my vinyl and everything analog a couple years ago. It was very easy. I went out and looked on a couple websites for the range of prices people were asking for each piece. Then, I would only ...
Your thoughts on selling
@audiodwebe how about a list of what you have, and where you are located?
What Is Most Important?
@holmz as a rule, music leading to the devil is listened to in youth (there are no brains, life experience, hormones and biology are boiling) ... despite the fact that the majority gradually grow up and get on a more correct track, the proble...
Anyone have experience with acousticfields.com or with using true pressure traps?
Usually the most optimal solutions are mostly passive control, with some active control layered on top.   It does remind me of a product though that didn't go far for room correction. Must have been a financial thing because it made sense to me....
