If they do not sound great in 20 minutes, send em back.
Do Costly XLR Cables Make A Difference?
@reimarc the field is zero when it is connected but not energising the conductors with a signal. Maybe there is a gradient in the room as one moves up, but it should still be around zero with a cable that is driven closer to what the local ground ...
Sound is better when I stand up?
@coppy777 Good point. When I had my listening room downstairs (see my virtual system), I placed section of 2x4s beneath each leg of my loveseat. It made all the difference Tilting the speakers might also have worked… But sometimes those chairs ...
Do Costly XLR Cables Make A Difference?
Thanks @reimarc .   … There is a lot more going on, then just sending current through a wire, … It is more like sending the electric field around the wire, then current in the wire for an IC. A speaker cable has more of the current.  Cotton a...
VTA my compromise in setting
Another option I have heard used, are multiple mats in varying thickness…
My first tube integrated: which one to get?
My question are: Should I even consider this purchase? I do not know the “pair of Emotiva XPA-100 mono blocks” … but maybe a tube pre is also an approach?
Digital is far better than vinyl
A entry level device like Bluesound Node has become a de facto standard for most Vinyl aficionados, after all digital is nothing but 1’s and 0’s and Streaming is for background music or to build their Vinyl collection…LOL! Since I use a DAC and...
Do Costly XLR Cables Make A Difference?
Earlier today I posted a recommendation to compare the current XLRs to some bargain cables that can be had from any music supply retailer, costing in the $15-$40 range. Implication was if there was no sonic difference noticed then no need to p...
Do Costly XLR Cables Make A Difference?
Serious question here… … My current XLR cable costs about $2k actual price paid. I’m looking at an alternative pair up to about $2k perhaps $3k tops if it is proven that the cable is able to bring a noticeable or worthwhile if not significan...
Are advances in technology making speakers better?
... I've been listening to a few cost-no-object, last generation loudspeakers and while impressive on many levels, they are sometimes too perfect for their own good... a "recording" being a very imperfect thing to start with, and a pale copy of t...
Sound is better when I stand up?
holmz    I think you have it… tilt that back a bit and it really improve the sound at the seated position.  The chair does that already, the headgear is to replicate the chair when standing. And gets better and closer as the angels angles g...
Sound is better when I stand up?
I know halloween is over, but this headgear should make the ”standing up sound”, and the “seated sound”… a bit more similar.
Balanced vs. Single Ended Interconnects
ohlala - If you're connecting to an unbalanced component then balanced cable provides no benefit.  If it's a cable designed for an unbalanced connection that just has an XLR connector then I'd anticipate that it would perform nearly identically t...
Nearly all manufacturers do not advertise/exhibit their product measurements? Why?
+1 @noske  It’s funny as I attracted a 2 week ban there, but none here. There is some bizarre tribalism around that parallels religion, politics, vaccines, etc…  But I guess it is all politics in the end.   In the words of Rodney King. “Why ca...
How To Connect a DAC?
We have 7 4’x6’ utility rugs on the floor.  A carpeted stairway comes into the space.  Upholstered couch and 12 chairs/stools.  6 bookshelves.  3 plants.  Etc.  I don’t notice it being echoey I was thinking more of boomy bass modes, but being i...
