Speakers around 4K: Ascend vs Tekton vs Vapor
I have 2 pairs of Zu Omen Defs and an Omen center channel in a system that has to serve double duty as a 2 channel system as well as a home theater. I loved the Zus for 2 channel music, but they are also exceptional performers in a home theater se...
zu audio Help
I own a couple of pairs of Omen Defs and found they definitely take some time and effort in setup to get them sounding their best. The bass is greatly affected by the amount of gap between the bottom of the speaker and the floor. Even small differ...
Klipsch-tekton -Zu
I agree with Shakydeal -- I have never been a Klipsch fan either. A friend of mine had some Cornwalls years ago and they did nothing for me. I had the Pendragons and ended up keeping my Zu Omen Def speakers.
Zu Omen or Tekton Lore
The xover is just hot-glued to the speaker brace. I used a screw driver to gently pry the xover board off the brace. You will not hurt the brace - the xover board is very thin and would break long before the brace.
Anyone listen to Zu Audio's Definition Mk3?
Gopher, thanks for the info on how the upgraded drivers were to be placed (I did not have instructions when I did it several weeks ago - I put a matched pair in each speaker). Just made the change tonight and it definitely better defines the image...
Zu Superfly Mk1-B vs Zu Omen Def Mk1-B?
I have never owned the Superfly, so I can't comment on them. I do own the Omen Defs and recently upgraded to the new Nano drivers. I had the HO drivers from the Superfly previously, and the sensitivity is the same as the new Nanotech drivers. I ru...
Zu Omen Defs vs Tekton Pendragons
Shakeydeal, the Pendragons sound very good with guitar and vocals. My schedule has relegated much of my listening to late night with kids in bed, so the music has been mainly simple, quiet stuff. I have been very satisfied. But they really shine w...
Zu Omen Defs vs Tekton Pendragons
Donplatt,That's a difficult call between the Zus and Tylers. Both are excellent speakers, and I really like them both, but they present very different views into the music. The Tylers put you in the studio with the musicians while the Zus put you ...
Amplifier for Tekton speakers
I owned the Pendragons and ran them with a pair of Wyred 4 Sound mono amps (SX-1000s and SX-500s). They sounded terrific -- smooth, extended but never harsh, excellent imaging with dynamics galore. I had several people over to listen to the speake...
Zu Omen Defs vs Tekton Pendragons
I agree with Morganc's assessment -- the Pendragons are not bright at all. Even with the upgraded xover, that does give a nice improvement in detail and air, I have noticed no shrillness in the highs at all. They are a very balanced speaker.
Zu Omen Defs vs Tekton Pendragons
Klh007,Sorry, my words were confusing. When I repositioned the Zus, the depth of soundstage increased dramatically, but you are still sitting in the first couple of rows. The best spot in my listening setup (which my wife will not allow permanentl...
Zu Omen Defs vs Tekton Pendragons
Klh007, That would seem to agree with what I have observed. The Pendragons seem to be about 4-5 db less efficient than my Omen Defs (which are supposed to be 101db 1w/1m). Nothing truly scientific, just sitting at the listening position and measur...
Zu Omen Defs vs Tekton Pendragons
I received the new Nanotech drivers from Zu a couple of days ago and they have been running pretty much 24/7 since. They are a significant upgrade from the stock drivers. They are more detailed and yet sound more relaxed, faster, and more substant...
Tekton pedragon finish
Brianpack, I have some Pendragons in a 33' x 15' x 8' loft area and they sound very good. I do not see a problem with your space -- that's a decent size room. I have found that they do like a little space behind them if your setup allows.
Zu Omen Defs vs Tekton Pendragons
Hi Tholt, missed your question. Yes, I ran both the Zus and Tekton's with Wyred SX-500 monos.
