Tekton Double Impacts I have followed this forum since its beginning, and have been pondering whether I should give the Double Impacts a shot. I currently have a pair of Zu Definition IIIs that transformed my musical enjoyment past any of my previous systems, but the ...
Who has Luv for the Lyngdorf 2170 and is thinking about the 3400. @kdude66 The 2170 did indeed get rid of some of the Zu's cabinet talk. One thing that even my wife noticed (she usually doesn't pay much attention to the 'new' boxes I lug up the stairs) is how dead silent the Lyngdorf is. One of my audiophi...
Who has Luv for the Lyngdorf 2170 and is thinking about the 3400. I'd like to thank @kdude66 and @grannyring for their recommendation of the Lyngdorf 2170. I have been following the Tekton DI thread for a long time, and it was there that I was convinced I needed to give one a try. Needless to say, I have...
Killer Floor Standing Speakers under $4000 for Rock? I'm currently listening to the Transiberian Orchestra at concert levels on my Zu Definition IIIs. Zu, Tekton, Tyler Pro Dynamic series and Legacy Focus -- I have owned them all and they will all meet your criteria. The Zu are the most dynamic (a...
From Klipsch to Zu Omen Def Macallan7, very late on this thread, but I owned the Omen Defs for about 18 months and absolutely loved them (had a chance to step up to the Def IIIs so I had to get rid of them). I have heard the Essence at a friends house, and frankly, was not w...
Any Zu Omen owners upgrade to the Mk1B I upgraded a pair of Omen Defs to the Mk 1B and I thought it was very worthwhile. Very noticeable, especially on vocals -- much smoother and greater transparency. Very worthwhile in my opinion.
Best sounding new DAC under $2500? I second Dtc's recommendation for the Chord. I own the Qute HD with Teddy Pardo power supply and I love it. Previously had a Wyred DAC 2 (not the SE upgraded version, so that is probably worth a look as well -- Wyred folks are great to deal with)....
Zu Druid & Definition Roundup Scott,If you remove the top woofer in your Def 3s you will be able to see the caps that are used for the tweeter xover. I removed mine and they are black -- Mundorf silver in oil. I too am interested in upgrading the tweeter xovers, and would like...
Zu or Totem or ProAc? I have not owned the Superflys, but did own the Zu Omen Defs. They sounded fantastic with your type of music -- rock and jazz, and they are very easy to drive. I would give Zu Audio a call and talk to them -- Sean and the rest of the Zu guys are g...
Efficient Floorstander For your musical styles, Tekton or Zu sound like a good fit (I am assuming you are looking for more bass than your current monitors provide). I'd give the Zu guys a call and tell them your needs -- they are great to work with. They also have a 60 ...
What speakers should I consider around $5000? Not to add more flame to the fire here, but looking at what you are looking for (integrated drivers and tight bass), I can't help but think you might want to give Zu speakers a look (probably the Omen Defs). With the full range drivers, they have ...
Peachtree Audio Nova125 & sensitive speakers I own Zu Definition speakers and Wyred 4 Sound electronics (mAMPS, STP/SE, DAC2). Black background, absolute silence. In fact, one of the things that sold me on W4S is the total silence and black background. Agree with others, something else is wr...
Wyred mAMP I can't directly compare what you asked (the ST-500 vs. the mAMP), but I have the mAMPs as well as a pair of SX-1000s. Here was my comparison between the two I made a couple of months ago that I sent to the Wyred folks:"I noticed that somewhere be...
M-Lores or Aon 3: bass/imaging I currently own a pair of Tekton m-Lores that I bought for surround speakers. I have played with them quite extensively as main speakers, and I am absolutely amazed at how much you get for so little $. My listening area is a loft that is 35' x 15'...
Small Speakers For A Large Room... I'd also suggest the Tekton m-Lores (34" x 9" x 10"). I purchased a pair for use as surround speakers, but have been toying around with them as my main speakers in a 35' x 15' x 8' loft (4200 sq feet) and have been pleasantly surprised how easily ... |
