Upgraded from Node to 432-evo-aeon-music-server and its another world sonically What percent of the upgraded sound would you attribute to the streamer and what percent to the DAC? As far as I can tell you have upgraded both, and many may have gotten those improvements by simply upgrading their DAC.
What is meant exactly by the description 'more musical'? I am with @decooney "musical" for me is when a system or live performance is engaging, non-fatiguing, and very pleasant to listen to. You'll know when it draws you in for more. For me, the key to his definition is the inclusion of "non-fati...
Grateful Dead Dave's Pick's Volume 48 ......time to put a fork in this ! I have surfed a bunch of Dick’s Picks but to my ear Go to Nassau (2002 release of May 15/16 1980 concert) is a cut above, sonically. Maybe this is why (via Wikipedia): "The shows were recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour and selections were...
Has buying and/or selling audio gear changed? I have only used F&F for small purchases such as inexpensive cables. Otherwise, it's an absolutely reasonable default for a buyer to not get shanked. Not to put too fine a point on it but: How could it possibly be otherwise?
10 Wonderful things and 10 bad things about the audiophile world. @donavabdear To get the most out of a speaker the driver needs to be designed with a particular amp. There are many reasons for this if there is one amp and 2 drivers putting out different frequencies you are compromising the potential performa...
Do people tire of audio forums? it took over 500 words to ask the question if folks are tired of this forum. you have my answer. Pretty good demonstration of the irritating and obtuse kind of post that people get tired of. If that was your goal -- well played!
10 Wonderful things and 10 bad things about the audiophile world. #1 Speakers and amps need to be made synergistically. Why "made"? Why not just matched? #3. High End audio companies rarely show scientific measurements. Why not? Would they guide people? Why? My sense is that most do not know what to do with...
DACed and Confused here... +1 @soix -- Agree on not underspending. If you buy used you can re-sell for around the same price. A bit of hassle for a lot of learning. I'd get the Denafrips Pontus and live with it for a while. Just my two cents. (I don't own Denafrips, by the ...
Do people tire of audio forums? @sns Backorder on REL's! Gotcha. FWIW, I really, also, like my Rythmik subs and believe they offer equal performance for better price and are more adjustable than REL. There's debate but I'm happy. FWIW. Good luck taming that bass!
Schiit Bifrost 2/64 vs. Holo Audio Spring 3 -- brief listening notes @2psyop I googled it for current prices and I got $829 vs. $3098 @mesch Thanks. Will relate. Next experiment will be to change one thing in the setup -- putting in my Pass XA 25 for my hypex-based amp.
Do people tire of audio forums? @sns What keeps me engaged or not has a lot to do with who is in conversation. There are some members I reliably learn from -- including yourself. Sometimes a poster has actual experience with something -- that's helpful but of course it's an "n...
DACed and Confused here... You might go up the line by going used with a Denafrips or a Chord, or others. In other words, get twice the DAC your budget indicates by buying from a reliable seller, used. My Schiit Bifrost 2/64 was purchased new and it's pretty amazing for l...
Harman acquires Roon Good points. The integrations possible as mentioned by @wharfy are really compelling. Warnings about the misdirection of Roon are serious, and the potential for Roon to become "bloatware" are real, too.
