R2R Ladder DACs or All in One Streamer Solutions The owner of MHDT, Jiun, reportedly started buying up as many of these chips as possible and they became the foundation of an enormously popular model of DAC. Clearly it's not "functionally obsolete." You can read around to see others on this chip...
Toslink A parallel question: IS there any appreciable audible differences between Toslink cables?
R2R Ladder DACs or All in One Streamer Solutions Surely if there are classic cars, classic homes, classic amps, there can be classic chips. Occasionally, people know WTF they’re doing and they implement things beautifully. "Oh, that old Frank Lloyd Wright house? Who’d want to live in that?" Um, ...
R2R Ladder DACs or All in One Streamer Solutions +1 @decooney on orchid. It’s fantastic.
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state? +1 about JJ tubes. Swapped them out of both pre and amp and everything was smoother. The JJ tubes which came with the pre were surprisingly cheap. They should be swapped out right away. That said, I think that JJSS49's list of problems besides the...
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state? Forget about Raven. QS is good stuff. I have the same Line Stage. After talking with Mike, you might consider Brent Jessee or Jim McShane. Both reply quickly and are willing to help.
Quicksilver audio silver 88 mono amps Hi @augwest I have the Quicksilver 60 Watt monoblocks and to deal with some brightness, and on the suggestion of @decooney (here), I went with the Genelex Gold Lyon KT77s. I've been happy with them. At this point, I'm pretty sure that my low ceil...

Are cable recommendations worth anything? I am not sure on the issue, personally. But I know this is not a simple, open and shut case in favor of double-blind. At the very least, it's complicated:https://audiophilereview.com/audiophile-news/why-double-blind-testing-cant-work-for-audio.htm...

Are cable recommendations worth anything? "Blue Jeans are good for jeans"?
Are cable recommendations worth anything? People I know who have been focused on cables for many years basically take this approach -- they establish a price point around which to try several, they get someone like the CableCo or others to send them a few pairs to compare, then they liste...
Upgrades that met/exceeded your expectations and those that felt short Tarun, who has the British Audiophile YT channel says that unless one is going to spend considerably more on an upgrade, it likely won't improve things. I think he said 2x to 3x at least when starting with lower end gear -- e.g.don't go from a $40...
Amplifier upgrade advice under $2000 OP, I understand the itch. If you spend too quickly, you may wind up second guessing your purchase (as you keep reading!) or wind up needing to sell at a loss. A trial period is crucial. |
