Orchid vs. Istanbul — anyone compare these MHDT DACs?
I've really enjoyed the Orchid but have not had a chance to compare it with others. I'm curious to hear if anyone has things to add.
Biggest audio hoaxes
@twoleftears  I figured, "It's Friday and people here probably need their 'Red Hour'." https://youtu.be/ao9Wxov9lQM
Denafrips/Vinshine not everything they were built up to be.
You’ve only gotten one reply to this post and you’re *already* swearing off posting to this group? For someone in business for 40 years, I’d suspect you’re capable of more resilience to pushback than just one reply to your post. Give us a chance.
Synergistic Research Fuses vs cheaper ceramic fuses
@ebm This is not the case this guy is wrong. How do you know?
Solid state amplifiers and sound stage, especially front to back "depth"
@parker65310  Thanks for your post and your nice comment. I wouldn't be a moderator in anything but a classroom. There, carrots and sticks exist. Here, in the West World of audio discussion, almost anything seems to go! I'd get too many cuts and b...

Thanks @wjob the DVA M225 sounds like a better fit.
I bought some Owens Corning 703. Now what?
That sounds great! Please let us know how things change with the new construction! I created 4 units with mine -- two were single panel sized and two were double panel sized and that gave me flexibility to move them to different places around the ...

Well, I think you've found a good deal then. Go for it and make some panels!

That's about what I paid. I think the best deal I've found since then is to find a local insulation company that sells it and just go pick it up with my car. It comes in around $65 for 6 two-inch by 4 ft by 2 ft sheets.
Solid state amplifiers and sound stage, especially front to back "depth"
@georgehifi I think I read that comment of yours from another thread a while back and have done all possible to eliminate height between speakers.I will play with positioning as per the suggestion. That helps the practical problem. The page from @...

@atmasphere  Got it. Thanks. I don't know why McGowan does it, then. Maybe he's the only one who doesn't do his math homework!
Solid state amplifiers and sound stage, especially front to back "depth"
@atmasphere  I think I remember Paul McGowan saying they build the amp, then go play it in their IRS5 room and then go back to the bench to change it. In other words, they want they amp to "voice" in a way that they deem to be "musical," and those...
Is carpet on wall behind speakers counter productive?
If you have some boards you could put up in front of the carpet, temporarily, even to cover a fair portion or half the space, you could quickly and easily observe what happens to the sound. Many people do dampen that front wall, but carpet is a cl...
Solid state amplifiers and sound stage, especially front to back "depth"
@atmasphere I appreciate the clarification. I suppose I should have just asked the question about what is meant by "voicing." I'm just a hobbyist and consumer; I listen and read, and I hear some engineers such as Paul McGowan talk about "voicing" ...

@mahgister "And there is no resemblance at all between live event and recording"Suggest you check a dictionary. Because you must mean that there is no perfect resemblance. Because obviously there is resemblance.
