Clearaudio " Innovation" - What?
Rockitman posted some pictures in another forum of the Clearaudio Master Innovation "magnetic-drive" turntable, ie, a belt-drive turntable's platter is driving a turntable above it via magnetic coupling. It's a doubledecker! Clearaudio Master Inno...
Clearaudio " Innovation" - What?
Here are some of product names from Clearaudio: EmotionInnovationOvationSolutionBluemotionChampionAnything ends with "ion" will work. Anymore information? :) Let's not pick on their names. It's just a name. Don't waste time on that. Just move on. ...
Garrard 301-Worth the effort?
Aesthetically, the Artisan Fidelity stuff is really ugly to me. Its proportion, gloss, and dimensions are all so tacky to me. Your mileage may vary. Why does the damn thing has to be so damn thick? Yuck._______
Graham Phantom Supreme?
That Bob Graham quote does not prove anything in this context because he did not say he compared the standard connection to a single set of wires to the preamp. The jury is still out there, I have to say. P.S. He's a manufacturer. Of course he wan...
Using a DD table as motor to drive another table
My previous post was intended to say "VHS is the only interface I tried so I CANNOT vouch for others."Fat fingers. :-) _______
Using a DD table as motor to drive another table
I used VHS tape to drive a passive platter with a DD table. Make sure you use a table with speed control. Models I recommend are Technics SL-M3, SL-M2 and JVC QL-F6, all have flat rim for the VHS tape to ride on. Other models will work too and you...
Using a DD table as motor to drive another table
It works great except it takes up a lot of table space. Do it. _______
Turntable speed accuracy
Excerpt from Stereophile review of the Sota Cosmos: "In the Star, the motor is mounted, for isolation purposes, on the fixed portion of the base assembly separate from the suspended subchassis—the usual practice in this type of turntable since AR ...
Turntable speed accuracy
Lewm: "Do you mean to say that the Cosmos is subject to M Fremer's critique (motor mounted to base/platter on spring suspension, which is also my criticism), or not?"The Cosmos had the motor and platter mounted on the same subchassis, according to...
Turntable speed accuracy
Davide256: "the belt provides isolation in power transfer. But a platter mounted on same sub chassis as motor still sees vibration transfer through the chassis. Rega follows this model."The Sota Cosmos (couple models higher than your Sapphire, whi...
Turntable speed accuracy
Davide256: "What makes the finest turn tables is damping/filtering vibration at the micro level to prevent vibration reaching the arm and platter..."Isn't this "vibration at the micro level" a form of movement and doesn't movement consist of timin...
Turntable speed accuracy
I found a random picture of a turntable online that looks like the kind of thread drive turntable Dertonarm would make. :) Any idea who made that? _______
Turntable speed accuracy
Davide256: "Direct drives are very difficult to isolate (vibration) vs belt drives"Really? What if there is little or close to no vibration in direct-drives to isolate to begin with? Not sure you understand how direct-drive system works...______
Turntable speed accuracy
Dougdeacon: "Implementation, implementation, implementation. :)"I love it when I see people doing experiment like that. My friend owns one of the earliest version of Teres turntable before it went commercial. His motor failed couple years ago so I...
Do you use variable speed on your turntable?
I think the Timeline amplifies the speed error visually because it shoots out the laser very far away from the spindle all the way to the nearby wall so it's like having a 6 foot diameter strobe disc! The KAB after all is only 10 inch wide and mi...
