Turntable hum problem after demagnetizing
I'm going with the odds of a bad connection such as a wire that came off, or broke off somewhere.

The metal dome tweeter in these have a resonance shown here right above 20 kHz. A lot of people are sensitive to this. This may be a large contributing factor.
AV Receiver that deals with 6ohm speakers
Oops! Sorry for the wrong model number. The one thing that bugs me is, they were supposed to have settled on a 8 ohm standard for home theater years ago.
AV Receiver that deals with 6ohm speakers
A couple of years ago, I may have said to give it a try. But anymore, there have been a lot of complaints about newer receivers shutting down. They do have a lower ohms dip. Stereophile did a review on these speakers, and HERE is a link for their ...

Sagging Voice Coils?
There were and maybe still are speakers that have a coated surround that is usually made out of cloth. This was done a lot in the '60s to '70s and maybe before or after that time period. If you see some old woofers from around then, that has a liq...

Phase inverting problem
Swaf said the minus is tied to his cartridge body. So when he reverses them, the plus may be tied to the whole tonearm. That would explain the hum. Then if he grounded the whole arm with the cartridge wires reversed, it might short the signal (plu...
