Original Vandersteen Model 3 I doubt that RV would want or be able to upgrade a pair of older 3s to current spec. Almost every aspect of the 3s has been changed over time as all of RV's speakers are of an evolutionary nature. If he could do it, it would no doubt cost more t...
Looking at a new non-SACD player, but still own lots of SACDs One important point I forgot to mention. Read and re-read threads on A’gon in which Modwright was discussed. Everything is positive and consistent! Many of the same adjectives are used to characterize the "sound" of the Modwright Signature Truth m...
Looking at a new non-SACD player, but still own lots of SACDs @tpreaves +1! I am listening to Rachmaninoff's Symphony #2 right now on SACD. Just lovely. Listened to of all things Yello's Toy CD this afternoon and the joint was jumping'.@meiatflask I've had my Marantz SA 8005 Modwright Signature Truth play...
Looking for speaker ideas. My experience buying the Vandersteen Treo CTs this past summer taught me to have patience with break in. They kept opening up and revealing finer details for several weeks. The last driver to reach its apex was the carbon tweeter. Ride cymbals ...
Looking for speaker ideas. @bsmg Do those speakers come broken in? If not, two weeks is all but useless as most drivers and crossover components will take 1-2 weeks to break in. Not much time to really listen to them at their best!
Looking for speaker ideas. @wolf_garcia Speakers have rights too! :)
Power cord replacement suggestions @chrisr Some manufacturers DO recommend aftermarket power cords. I received such a recommendation within the last couple of weeks from a well known audio manufacturer. Your statement is a bit too general.
Vandersteen +1 @geph0007 I loved the fabric tweeter in the 2C as well. Although the model 3s had greater treble detail, it came at the cost of an upper midrange emphasis and an unnatural "crispness" in the treble". Splashy cymbals with a "plasticy" sound.
WORST Experience Ever in Dealing With Woodbridge Stereo NJ Not to get off target, but I would be interested to know if as czarivey says that I have just had "great luck" or if he is "snake-bit" as regards results with UPS. Please share your experiences with "big brown".
WORST Experience Ever in Dealing With Woodbridge Stereo NJ @czarivey "UPS you can only use for products such as golf or baseball balls, bowling balls, dumbbells, tires and steel pipes.Other than that probability of destruction is far beyond 50% and close to 100%."Hyperbole!! I just received my Modwright T...
WHAT'S UP WITH MARANTZ? @nonoise No worries. I barely noticed the mention of the post's deletion.
WORST Experience Ever in Dealing With Woodbridge Stereo NJ Years ago after sending my Vandersteen Model 3s to California for upgrading, a UPS fork lift operator gashed through the carton, damaging the speaker. I received a courtesy call from Vandersteen to inform me of the damage. They had already filed...
Audioquest colorado sound to bright The HT cables had a very even sound to them frequency response wise. The Colorados were even as well with a greater transparency and bass impact. Not knocking HT, just liked the "clearer window" to the music with the Colorados in my system. YMMV
Decided to change my cd player, suggestions please? @uberwaltz Congratualtions! That moment of pleasantly being shocked is awesome.
Comparing these CD players with my gear... @mgreen In a world with loads of brick and mortar come listen to it establishments what you said would be THE way to go, however in my "neck of the woods" (literally) there are NO audio shops to listen to gear. My last major purchase, Vanderste... |
