Speaker Placement - When it's perfect! @tomcarr Those of us with dedicated listening spaces have a distinct advantage over those who have to integrate their stereo gear into a family living space. Great kudos to those dedicated 'philes who find that perfect spot with great positioni...
Speaker Placement - When it's perfect! @tomcarr As a one time owner of 2Cs, are you hearing much in the way of soundscape depth with the speakers so close to the wall behind them?
Short of running new, dedicated 15 or 20 amp lines for audio, what can I do here? @blindjim I agree that power regenerators alter the sound. My PS Audio P5 powers my whole system taking incoming AC with 2.5% distortion and outputs AC with .1%. I'll take the sound alteration that results from that all day long!
Short of running new, dedicated 15 or 20 amp lines for audio, what can I do here? A PS Audio power regenerator would allow you to plug your system into it and provide clean, regenerated power to eliminate noise from your dimmers or other sources.
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable? @wgutz Sounds like you have your priorities straight.😀
Speaker Placement - When it's perfect! @stevizzy Is it audiophile nervosa that keeps you finding a new perfect spot or do things change in your system that provokes you to continue moving the speakers. I'm not throwing stones here believe me. Getting just the right set-up that locks t...
Speaker Placement - When it's perfect! kosst_amojan Thanks for the description of your listening space. It's a big area, but as you said quite asymmetrical. It must have taken quite a lot of effort not to mention patience to get your system to sound right. As I mentioned in my or...
Speaker Placement - When it's perfect! @johnk Nothing like a dedicated listening room designed for audio. That must make positioning a lot easier. I have the good fortune of a dedicated basement room, but the dimensions of the room were to the limit of the house design...but a nice ...
Speaker Placement - When it's perfect! @tomic601 Didn't realize you have the Vandy 7 mk.II. That plus the other gear you have listed must make for a fabulous system. I'm betting that high ceiling allows the 7s to produce quite the soundstage. You are definitely playing in the "big...
Biwire Cables for Vandersteen 2CE Signatures @nycjlee You can't go wrong with a recommendation from John R.! I replaced my AQ cables when I traded up from 3A Sigs. to Treo CTs. My Earth Series cables had such heavy gauge of copper that the mid bass was too heavy and was obscuring the cl...
Speaker Placement - When it's perfect! @kosst_amojan Just wondering what size your listening space is if you can have your speakers 12 feet apart?
Questions from a Tube Preamp newbie @stereo5 Wow. I'd have to check receipts but when I bought the CV 4003 about 15 or so years ago they were about $100.00 for a matched pair. That was back in my early days with my tube line stage and just went with the advice I was given. Perh...
Questions from a Tube Preamp newbie @aberyclark I only used one pair of JJs. I abandoned them because of what I perceived to be a "hardness" to the sound. The new production Gold Lions in my circuit yield an expansive soundscape, smooth textures and great dynamic swing. This is...
Questions from a Tube Preamp newbie @stereo5 My previous post should have been stated more accurately. The NOS Mullards I used were 4003s not 12AU7. They were recommended by Upscale for my line stage. Glad to hear you're having good luck with your NOS Mullards. The 4003s I use...
Questions from a Tube Preamp newbie @stereo5 Good to hear that the NOS Mullards are working for you. I sourced NOS Mullards from Upscale several years ago, and they sounded good but they just didn't last very long in my circuit. No catastrophic failures, just the tubes got very ... |
