How many tube watts for Vandersteen 2's? It's really more important that you have some current behind those watts. For example, you could use a pair of Dyna MKIII's but you won't like the way the bottom end sounds. Sixty tube watts is sufficient if you don't play your music loud. Just us...
Buy tubes from Audio Research or not I had to repair a VS110 a few weeks ago. There not that bad to move if you have a friend handy. BTW I talk to ARC at least once a week and I tend to be a bit cautious with tube arcs etc. That being said, I understand you not wanting to shlepp your...
Audio Research VS 115 bias Adjustments Bifynne...I have a strong bias for buying from ARC? Awesome pun! LOL
ARC VT100 with KT-120 tubes ? Karma16..Have a nice day.
Tube issues, 12at7 affect KT88? Well you do have to draw the line somewhere. When I do a mod on someones preamp or amp I take a long hard look at what was the intent was of the designer of the circuit. In the case of Dynaco, there were always cost considerations. This was the st...
ARC VT100 with KT-120 tubes ? That is correct. You can not use a KT-120 for the regulator tube in ARC amplifiers. ARC is still in the process of determining power output of their amps with the 6550 vs. the KT-120. In some ARC products the KT-120 will not even fit. The KT-120 r...
ARC VT100 with KT-120 tubes ? Karma16. The KT-120 draws a bit more heater current per tube. There are possibly other variables with the KT-120 that I am unaware of... The Ref210's are mono blocks and are rated at 210w across 8 ohms with 6550's @ 120Vac line and that's what I m...
Tube issues, 12at7 affect KT88? That's a good question. I haven't really looked into them. Find out what your options are and let me know. Dynakit's were available for most Dynaco products including the FM3 tuner. If you use more tubes on a new mother board, depending on the tub...
ARC VT100 with KT-120 tubes ? Well the bias setting is the same as with the 6550. I can tell you it's at the very least an improvement in power output. They sound very good. No down side. I've only heard them in a pair of Ref210's.
Tube issues, 12at7 affect KT88? Heyraz. May I suggest you replace the board in it and there by replacing the 7199 as well. Both the 7199 and the 6AN8 used in the MKIII are not very reliable. That tube is a medium mu triode/sharp cut off pentode. Although a good idea at the time ...
Tube issues, 12at7 affect KT88? Heyraz...Check out the coupling caps in the ST-70. They do go bad. Also if it's really old and the bias supply uses the selenium rectifier, replace it. Those rectifiers leak voltage and the bias supply suffers. Caps in all power supplies as well..
Tube issues, 12at7 affect KT88? Tony what's the last tube in the chain before the KT-88s?
Tube issues, 12at7 affect KT88? Well whatever the problem with that tube is it's causing that KT-88 to run away. Usually, if the DC voltage operating points are upset, that will upset the balance of the amp and over drive the output. Or for some reason the bias on that KT-88 is ...
Audio Research VS 115 bias Adjustments Tomj2617. Awesome. they will take approx. 20 hrs. to break in so they should only get better over time. No need to run the amp non stop for 20hrs. however. Enjoy
audio Research REF 110 and KT 120 tubes Mabonn.....I believe so. |
