Thoughts on Amperex PQ tubes
The 7308 is an amazing tube and very hard to get. It is the top of the 6922/6DJ8. Usually the glass is etched.
KT88 on mc275 commemorative
I would contact McIntosh and see if you can use the KT-120 on that amp.
ARC preamp line up
If you plan on purchasing an SP-6 series make sure all the filter caps in the power supply have been replaced. In the A/B versions there are quite a few and they are not cheap. As long as they have been replaced in the past 8-10 yrs they still hav...
I think my speakers are killing my amps.
He means do you hear the click clack sound without a speaker load on the amp. Disconnect only the speakers and try it. My guess is you are hearing some kind of arcing since I do not believe that amp has any kind of relay or protection circuit. If ...
I think my speakers are killing my amps.
It possible a capacitor may have arced. I have seen situations where the speaker was damaged by high frequency oscillation before the amp failed. Given its age, it sounds like the amp needs some tlc.

ARC SP-11.
Tube replacement for Dynaco ST 70
Make sure your highly modified Stereo 70 does not include a solid state rectifier with a lot of filter capacitance. Unless there is some kind of ramp up circuit, that's a sure way to damage the secondary side of the power transformer in a hurry. I...
Kenwood Basic M2 Repair?
You haven't said what the fault in the amp is?? What is it doing or not doing?
Does this amp have a problem or is it OK to buy?
Remember hum through the speakers can be caused by cable tv issues, interconnects etc. or other external issues that have nothing to do with the amp itself. Also, if there is a bit of hum through the speakers, and it is amp related, the loudness o...
Aesthetix stellar customer service
So did Oppo.....that's not that unusual.
Amp design logic
Also remember that generally the dealer makes more on the product then the manufacturer does. Yes the dealer has overhead, but the manufacturer has much more overhead. That is why some manufacturers tend to sell direct. By selling direct, it cuts ...
Enough amplfier?
I don't see any reason why not. However, it will depend on the size of your room. Also, the furnishings,(does the room have a lot of overstuffed furniture, curtains, carpeting etc, that would absorb sound), and how loud you like to play your music...
Did I blow my tube amp?
Also the thing to remember is, no one ever sells an amp with new output tubes in it. I always tell my customers to expect to need a partial or full re-tube when they bring in a used amp to have it checked out.
ARC SP-6 Warmup time
Yes, as I said earlier and I guess it never made it to this thread; Because the SP-6B/C have long DC time constants, in order for the circuit to stabilize, the timer should not release after one minute or you might hear a thump and watch your woof...
audio Research REF 110 and KT 120 tubes
@Jedinite24 thank you for the kind words. I neglected to add: REF210 requires field or factory mod. REF610 requires factory mod. May the force be with you!
