Passing of James Bongiorno It's a nice amp that's easy to carry......
Tube amps and loads. I usually do not load the output of the amp unless there's an issue with the amp i.e. coupling caps leaking etc.. What I do however is to place shorting plugs at the input.
Power supply caps for CJ PV-5 Unfortunately.... sadly, Ed has retired and there is no one there to answer those types of questions. I don't know what's going on with C/J. I have used auracaps in my updates and they are an excellent sounding cap.
McIntosh Marantz Tube Equip Repair Recomendation I may be able to help you with that. Email me. I'm in L.A.
Good 61NP replacement tube for NovaPre? You may wish to try using 2 tube dampening rings on each tube if you wish to change it's sonic character, i.e. too bright.
Good 61NP replacement tube for NovaPre? I believe you mean 6N1P. As far as I know, no one else is making that tube unless you can find a cross for a 6N1P.
Conrad Johnson Premier 140 6922 tube swapping Repuluso....That amp had issues as I stated above with the polystyrene film caps used through out that amp. The biggest problem is that fact that those caps are used in all four voltage regulators. Therefore, given the amps age, if the amp hasn't ...
Conrad Johnson Premier 140 6922 tube swapping I believe the 140 can accept KT-120's.
What tubes fro my el84 amp? The EL84 is also a 6BQ5 in the U.S.A. The 6CG7 is also a 6FQ7.
Conrad Johnson Premier 140 6922 tube swapping Although a bit off topic, I would suggest you make sure that amp has the upgraded film caps in the regulated power supplies. The old polystyrene caps have issues. If one shorts, and they do trust me, it takes out the whole regulator and it's not a...
Can't bias tubes on amplifier Have you tried 6550's??
Audio Research Contact. You forgot Wadia Digital.
Audio Research Contact. Unfortunately, I'm sure I could complain till I'm blue in the face. It wouldn't matter.
Test Values On 5AR4/ GZ34 Tubes Generally speaking when I test a twin diode (rectifier) it's either good or it isn't. Generally the failure mode is as follows: they are usually weak and measure poorly, or they pull too much current and are therefore shorted. Why not just purchas...
Can't bias tubes on amplifier I agree with Newbee. It's possible that the window of bias adjust,i.e. negative voltage, is insufficient to properly bias the KT-88's you received. Therefore the tubes are running away. A tech needs to measure the maximum bias voltage at the tube ... |
