Hunting Unicorns Has anyone used the Aurender, and if so, what is your preferred control device?
Hunting Unicorns Thanks! Clicking link now.
Hunting Unicorns As have erik_squires and mlsstl now. Thanks to all. I wondered why, and now I know. Next question would be an affordably functional tablet control device occupying little space.
Hunting Unicorns jond I think you have supplied the answer. One can go smaller than a laptop, but not to the size of a slender remote. Shame on technological advance for failing to anticipate my needs!
Hunting Unicorns djones51 if you do come across it, please share. My dream product ;-)
Hunting Unicorns erik_squires the hidden Linux box plus inexpensive streamer sounds good, but apparently you still need at least a phone. My unattainable object is something requiring no external multi-purpose device. From ddude03 above I gather that even Lumen ne...
Hunting Unicorns The current streamer/DAC/preamp is Cambridge 851N. It probably does wireless internet radio, but since audio is better from USB, I just use that for convenience since I need the laptop anyhow.
A philosophical question. What music to play is one particular entry-point into sole philosophical question of humanity. Serenity is one's given equipoise between opposite, yet complementary, extremes: yin and yang. Everything is both true and false at once. "Life is too s...
I am frustrated with the sound from my DAC Same experience here. Went from Cambridge with Wolfson to SABRE in Peachtree and never satisfied. Despite much higher price of the latter. Now changed back to the latest from Cambridge. Not near the end of the DAC road, but farther along.
Non-rear ported Speakers A vote here for front ports. Rear ports need too much wall setback. And full enclosures, even with 22Hz bass, just sound boxy. Again, your results may vary, but those are mine.
Speakers Don’t Matter As Much As We Think They Do? Finally catching up with the audio world a decade ago, I started with electronics because my old stuff was totally analog. First came a digital preamp which the old dual mono power amp couldn't translate despite a high-end DAC. Got a contemporary ...
Usless but interesting ....how many of you old timers started with original Large Advents? Me too. Until you mentioned it, I had completely forgotten the name Advent. A black hole in the memory bank. Right . . . getting a fuzzy mental image now . . . but it was the intro to lower end of high end of forever long ago. Certainly equal to w...

Albums that you listen to straight through / start to finish whenever you put them on! Some pop LPs (meaning not symphonies, oratorios, concerti &c) were produced for continuous listening, and sometimes playing them straight through is worth doing for its own sake. Those named above are good examples.Yet who here doesn't have an...
