Audio Research Ref 6 upgrade to 6SE.
I tried to schedule a repair to a ref anniversary preamp & was told there would be a 6 month wait
Where to have Focal speakers worked on?
audio plus services is us importer. I bought replacement tweeters from them
Woofer sucking in and out
Intermintant DC leaking from power amp could cause woofers to move???
Audio Research MP1 experience
I have one, but in an unusual configuration, that limits my experience on how it "sounds". I have a blended 2ch/multi-ch system with a video projector. I bought the MP-1 to handle the analog "outs" of my sacd & dvd-a player, but also have a ma...
How to listen to the good stuff?
You pay your money & take your chances! Listening to a component in your own system is the only relevant measure. Folks at audiogon have been thru a lot of "good stuff" that way. My own experience is that it takes a substantial amount of time ...
Dahlquist DQ-10 Passive Crossover
Sorry to bother you....
Dahlquist DQ-10 Passive Crossover
http://www.syer.net/dahlquist.htm (has x-over schematic)http://www.regnar.com/ (offers rebuilt parts etc, think they used to sell an alternative x-over)I eventually warped the woofer voice coils in my dq-10's (after I melted the wax off the x-over...
KRK ERGO
Harman has the BASSQ on their synthesis/performance web page, but customer support says it never came to market. Manual is on line & some AVS members claim to have one. Manual isn't at all clear as to what type of "processing/EQ" it's up to. S...
KRK ERGO
Used as intended the Ergo shouldn't have latency issues, but used as an improvised subwoofer room correction device & not in the signal path of the main speakers, I would assume the 1024 tap FIR filter takes some time processing the signal &...
KRK ERGO
Been looking into it, but concerned about possible latency issues. (time it takes signal to go thru unit) Not an issue if using unit full range, but problematic if using just for subwoofers (not intended use)List is around $799 & uses licensed...
Any Thoughts on the Sonic Frontiers power 1?
I have 2 SF power 1's & find them very comparable to arc tube amps of similar vintage; neutral without a "tubey" signature. I think the bass is a little "on steroids" side of neutral. Compensates for usual bass deficent 50 watters x2. I use th...
Crossovers, why so few options?
the velodyne sms1 offers a lot of flexibility & EQ for sub/main use, couple of products in that area of sub x-over & EQ. also has a remote to fine tune to different recordings
"AV" processor with outh the "V" ?
sony ta-e9000es are selling in that price range & sounds good.Doesn't decode newer audio codecs. May have some anomilies in sub set-up(?), I felt that even with all speakers set to "large" if you told "set-up" you had a sub it sucked some bass...
Problems with Infinity Prelude MTS mid-range
I've had problems with the sub amps (have 6 prelude subs & 3 intermezzo subs, very similar amps) All but 2 have had the amps stop working, & one has hum issue. Repair shops have no incentive to repair, as reimbursement for warranty work is ...
tube amping center channel
I use a sonic frontiers power 1 @ 50 watt/ch to power a pair of infinity prelude mts's as center channel (flanking a projection screen) Blends much better with all tube main system than a solid state amp did. I like double center speakers, as "lar...
