Should Sound Quality of Computer Audio be improved
We have stepped into another dimension...
Amarra a worthy investment?
I have Amarra and the latest Audirvana+ with exclusive access and integer mode. In my system, with Mountain Lion, I find that Audirvana+ is a bit less colored, more transparent and offers a bigger window into the soundstage.
Review: ZYX UNIverse II Cartridge
I'm about to trade up to the new UNIverse. Had a quick glance at your system Doug - see you're probably one of the few out there who owns Doshi stuff - heard his stuff at RMAF and it's killer - clearly you hear things similarly to the way I do! I'...
Coincident phono preamp vs rega iOS phono?
Wow - $7000 for a Rega phono stage? Never heard it - but own and love the Coincident.
Coincident Statement Phono Preamp
Have had mine for around a year or so. Initially used it as a "full function" preamp with my CDP going through the passive line input. Since that time I ended up going with an all-Coincident system consisting of the phono, line, Frankenstein monos...
HDtracks Music Libary Software For Macs
Will agree with above posters - just stick with your itunes database and use a third-party player like Amarra, Pure Music or Audirvana Plus. All of them offer free trials so you can try before you buy, compare as you dare! I currently use Max for ...

Mac mini, solid state internal drive, external 1TB or more FireWire or Thunderbolt drive, Amarra or other third party software, external disc drive if needed to rip discs. Total cost between $1k and $1.5k.
Should Sound Quality of Computer Audio be improved
Thanks Timlub - and regarding your query on a "made-for-audio pc", personally I am a very happy Mac user so it probably wouldn't be of any interest to me. Perhaps a new thread would give you more idea - I think many have already tuned out of this ...
Should Sound Quality of Computer Audio be improved
Petty, I'm really not sure why I'm still responding to you - but I intend to say this one last time. I don't expect you to listen to me because you haven't shown any inclination to listen over the first 266 posts, but you continue to accuse me of ...
Survey-What is your most used source?
Probably roughly 50% turntable and 50% Mac/DAC. No more CD player.Best vinyl still my gold standard but MacDAC so easy and consistent...
Apple Lossless, AIFF or WAV for itunes?
I use AIFF. Haven't spend much time comparing the different formats because I find this sort of A/B testing tedious. AIFF seems to be a nice compromise between tagging ability and lack of compression. General consensus seems to be that WAV has the...
