Stereophile test CD2 In/Out of Phase test:question
El, can you recommend any audiophile gong recordings so I can test your hypothesis.
Who will survive? One last table til I die.
You know, I really don't care about the output impedance, damping factor, frequency response, or any of those other measurements you guys are talking about as long as they are within reason. I care how it sounds. It was proven back in the seventie...
I hear a random low booming noise .
If it only happens while playing music at low volumes my first suspect would be the source. Do you have more than one source to try? Maybe a portable CD player you could hook up to see if it does it too?
I hear a random low booming noise .
Are you playing the 1812 Overture when this happens?Could you please be more descriptive? Does it boom when playing music or just sitting there? If with music, how loud. What do you mean by random? Could you describe the boom? I've never heard tha...
How to equalize a bi-amplification setup?
The Aleph 3 doesn't have balanced inputs
How to equalize a bi-amplification setup?
You stated "via balanced and unbalanced connection"If you are using the Aleph 0 in balanced mode and the Aleph 3 in unbalanced, that is your problem. The Aleph P has 15 dB of gain using the balanced output, but only 9 dB using the unbalanced. The o...
Stereophile test CD2 In/Out of Phase test:question
Tbg, I'm not sure what was "contrary" to your experience. I would only ask you to try it again. Play track two and see if the image is centered when he tells you it should be. If it is, reverse the cable on one speaker only and I believe it will b...
Stereophile test CD2 In/Out of Phase test:question
Tbg, it really is one channel out of phase (actually inverted polarity) with the other on the recording and then the two channels are in phase. If you reverse the wires on just one of your speakers the image will be centered when he says the signa...
Stereophile test CD2 In/Out of Phase test:question
I never looked at the booklet before. If you only listen to the CD then my assessment is correct. Track 2 is labeled "channel phasing, not absolute phase. "Having "a clearly defined central image" as the recording tells you to listen for has only ...

Tbg, can you refer me to some nore info on H-Cat? I didn't see anything in the manufacturer section. When some frequencies are delayed and others aren't it is usually refered to as phase shift or group delay. Doppler shifts have to do with relativ...
Stereophile test CD2 In/Out of Phase test:question
That test shows whether your speakers are in phase with each other, it doesn't show absolute phase. That means if they are being fed the same signal the cones will be moving in and out together. If the phase is reversed then when one speaker is mo...
I need a bit more midbase from my cdp
Good thought from Red, it may not be a lack of midbass but a smearing of all bass frequencies from the the room. Don't you just hate/love how complicated even the simplest things can become?
URGENT HELP NEEDED: Marantz Clock Upgrade
I'm with Slappy on this one (kind of scary actually), have the unit returned to you. If he can't find the part to be replaced then he is definitely not the guy you want working on your unit.
Push pull 300B amplifiers
TWL, Berning describes the ZOTL amp as class A push-pull. Even though his design is truly unique, I don't see how you can call an OTL amp an SET in any traditional sense of the term.In any case I would love to hear it.
I need a bit more midbase from my cdp
Try moving your speakers, start a bit closer to the wall.
