MH a300 vs A3.5?
I would go with the A300. I've had quite a few MF amps over the years, including the A3 before the A300 and the A5. I've hung onto the A300 in a 2nd system driving Usher Be-718's and the combination works supremely well. I've not heard the Ohms, s...
Best Super-Tweek You Possibly Ever Did
Adding a Monarchy DIP Classic after the Wadia 170i to reduce jitter and amplify the digital signal voltage made a staggering difference to the audio quality. Lower noise floor and dramatically increased dynamics. I rarely listen to my CD player an...
which budget integrated amp Rotel, NAD or other
My vote goes to a Musical Fidelity - 2nd hand A300 or A5. Good power (A300 has 150W/ch, A5: 250W/ch), very high quality phono stage and a transparent and well integrated sound. I have the A300 driving the Usher BE-718 in my second system and they ...
Mystere IA21 int amp vs Audio Space Ref 3.1 300B
Not really comparing apples with apples here. Maybe comparing the Mystere which is an EL34 or KT88 amp with the Ref 3.1 (KT88) rather than the 3.1(300B) might be more informative.I haven't heard the Mystere but have listened to the Ref 3.1 (KT88) ...
Best Cd Player under $4000?
I fourth upgrading the speakers rather than the source although I agree that the Cambridge can be a tad bright in a lean system. I've never been a fan of the Chorus line which were just not well enough balanced for my liking - a bit too much trebl...
Musical fidelity A5.5 Vs Arcam CD 37
If it's like the A5, I shouldn't expect much change after about 100 hours. Are you not happy with the sound so far?
NAD C325 or C352?
Definitely agree with Bokfudo that if you're going to stick with NAD, go for the C372 (I misseed your reference to this option in your o.p.). Very powerful and musical amp and can drive most any speakers with ease. Not to mention the natural upgra...
NAD C325 or C352?
Of the two amps you've mentioned, I would go with the C352. Whilst the Evidence 470 is quite sensitive, it's low nominal impedance of 4 ohms suggests that you would be better with an amp that can deliver better into low impedances.Personally, I wo...

Headphone Amplifiers
Worth investigating the Audio-Gd headphone amplifiers which are from China and very highly regarded on the Head-Fi site. I got the C-2C ($335 plus delivery) and it is excellent with the AKG K-702's. They have a lower cost model, the ST 3 that migh...
Where to start in building a beginner's system?
Wadia 170i is the natural starting point if iPod is to be your source. The next link in the chain needs to be a DAC and there is a very big range of options in this regard. If you prefer a non-oversampling (NOS) DAC, you could look at options like...
Bass, more or less?
Interesting thread, Nocaster. My experience is largely similar to your own. I have tended to own speakers (Quad 57's, Ruark Talisman II's, Rogers Studio 1a, Mordaunt-Short P6's) which do the mids right rather than fully extending to the lowest oct...
Monitor Audio GR10 vs. Epos M12.2
Loose, I don't disagree that the Epos mids were quite seductive, but I felt this was actually because of the added warmth. My home speakers are the Mordaunt-Short Performance 6, which are extremely neutral and transparent in the midrange and this ...
Monitor Audio GR10 vs. Epos M12.2
I don't know about the MA's but I found the Epos range quite warm and thick through the mids. Great in a leaner system if this is what you like, but unlikely to solve your current warmth issue.
Musical fidelity A5.5 Vs Arcam CD 37
I'd lean towards the MF A5.5. I have the A5 which is an excellent player - very neutral, well integrated and musical. I would expect the A5.5 to be very similar in sound to the A5.
