Looking for an integrated tube amp under $2500
I actually had a Rogue Cronus magnum with kt -120 tubes which I really liked but it didn’t control the bass, was to loose. Went to the Hegel h100 which I liked but didn’t have enough power so I bought a h300. I then bought a new pair of large Ushe...
PRIMA LUNA AMPLIFIERS
My Cayin was manufactured in 06' and performs as well as the day it was new. Hasn't needed servicing of any sort despite a couple tube failures. It's been more reliable than my American-made gear. Anyhow, both brands (PL, Cayin) are built like tan...
What is an Audiophile? Here's the list for newbies.
An audiophile is a closet Stereophile & TAS reader. An audiophile is always passing judgment on the speakers at the local bar or restaurant. An audiophile tells the spouse "it was a good deal" even though the cost was more than her ring.An audi...
Considering Vandersteen 3a Signatures
I have Vandy 3A Sigs.  Would never think to call the tweeter sibilant, but I suppose there's plenty of room for subjectivity in that call.I just noted a bit of grain and spit with some recordings that I don't hear in some other speakers. It's plen...
Graduating to separates need help
With that budget, you need to give a call to Odyssey Audio. You could likely get a very good package deal for not much over $2K.
Considering Vandersteen 3a Signatures
I agree that you won't get any worthwhile improvement in clarity/detail. The Vandy tweeter is a bit sibilant compared to the Spatial's compression driver IME. Where the Vandys excel, and panels/open baffles are lacking, is in pinpoint imaging. The...
Non-Oversampling (NOS) vs,
An upsampling and filtered DAC will measure much better on paper. That's indisputable. My experience is that either type can sound good, however, my non-oversampling, filterless DAC sounds more like analog - less fatiguing and less "glare" at the ...
Bias adjustment on solid state amplifiers
Ideally, SS amp bias would be set according to the average voltage coming in on your mains.
New Joseph Audio Pulsar Graphene 2
Yeah...Magico’s using those cheap drivers with their under hung speaker designs. Anything to help lower distortion is a good thing in my book.I didn't say their drivers are cheap, just that the use of underhung voicecoils is not remotely uncommon ...
New Joseph Audio Pulsar Graphene 2
One of the benefits in the Magico design is the use of underhung voice coils to lower the distortion..expensive..but worth the cost!Nothing special, rare or expensive about an underhung voicecoil. It's quite common, even among some relatively che...
KEF LS50, B&W 805D2, B&W 805S opinions wanted
It reads as though you have LS50s in your home but you auditioned 805D3s in Best Buy’s highly treated room. If that’s the case, you really can’t draw any useful conclusions as to which performs better regarding imaging and soundstage. Unfortunatel...
Human Loudspeaker Review Thread Was Removed
@craigsubHelomech ... that was going to be the gist of the review: are they a great value or a speaker ideal whose time has come and gone? I don't do this for anything other than love of the hobby. Just a guess that they're a great value based on ...
Tool fan needs help with speakers (and electronics)
Look into the Spatial Audio M3 Turbo S.After experiencing what their smaller siblings can do for the price, I will never again consider the common suspect brands when speaker shopping (B&W, Focal, Monitor Audio, Paradigm, etc). It's not that t...
Recommendation for DAC under$1k with Luxman integrated and Harbeth 30.1
Unless you plan to play hi-res files, the Pro-Ject DAC BoxS FL is an excellent DAC - very analog-like. A cheap way to test whether the Filterless/Non-oversampling sound is to your taste.
Human Loudspeaker Review Thread Was Removed
Probably some resident dealer doesn't like that Human sells U.S. made speakers for <$600/pair that can embarrass others costing many times more.
