Review: DCM TimeWindow 1 Speaker Mark, In the floorstanding speaker section of eBay, I noticed a guy that had a pair of replacement tweeters for DCM speakers. I didn't look to see what else he may have on hand. You might try a search there? Seems like it might make some sense to ...
Cary SLI-80 Tube amp suddenly blowing fuses John, you're definitely more on the ball than I am when it comes to this stuff. I've only owned VTL amps, and the Cary. With the VTL amps, one measures the voltage vs. the amperage. Of course, using your formula, it looks like one is actually indi...
Advice on Cary CD Players or other options. I don't own a Cary CD player, YET. I do own a Cary SLI-80, which I enjoy very much. I'm chiming in for two reasons:1. Why would you second guess your purchase decision just because you heard some opinions on the 'Gon that are less than favorable t...
Cary SLI-80 Tube amp suddenly blowing fuses The manual I received with the amp state that one uses mA to bias with. I have had no trouble biasing the amp. It's actually much easier than adjusting bias on the VTL amps I've owned.
Review: DCM TimeWindow 1 Speaker Like previously stated, McMaster is the source for the grill/sock replacement fabric. DCM cust svc even game me the part#, which I don't have handy right now.Way back when, I had owned Time Window's, TW3's, and the 1A's. All excellent choices, pow...
Cary SLI-80 Tube amp suddenly blowing fuses Doesn't Cary recommend measuring mA, not mV, when adjusting bias?
Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" Listen to the Classic Records vinyl release of this superlative LP...you just may "get it".
ProAc 1.5's add sub or trade up? As a prior owner of the 1.5's, I would suggest that you look to speaker placement before making any further changes. Check out the excellent instruction on the Audio Physic website.
New Phono Pre-Amp If you look long and hard enough, you might find the EAR 834P at that price...it's a cut above the units mentioned thus far, and has that "tube magic".
ProAc Response 1.5s vs. Meadowlark Shearwater HRs Yes, the 1.5s definitely have more bass. The Shearwaters have a bit more definition in the lower octaves, but the ProAcs are still accurate and very tuneful. While the Meadowlarks did a better job of disappearing, I preferred the ProAcs overall. T...
12au7 I'll have to agree with Jason. Of course, I don't think Telefunken made a bad tube. They're definitely the cat's meow when it comes to the AU and AT.
Cartridge suggestions for Rega P9 The low output MM/iron Grado Reference line sound fantastic on the Rega tables. You'll need a spacer ring, but it is cheap and simple to install.
best used amp for 300- 400 I'll second the recommendation for the B&K amps. I you shop around for a ST-140 or ST-202, you'd be able to come in under your budget, and with a nice sounding amp.
Vinyl's Noise Floor With that analog rig, you're in for a treat...
Lester Young Lester Young with the O.P. Trio is a classic, a very good start. Another one of my fav's is Lester along with Harry Edison (trumpet)- "Pres & Sweets". From your list of preferred saxmen, I think you'd really enjoy some Johnny Hodges. Check out... |
