The end of LP collecting????
If you are a "collector" of anything, you can usually expect to pay a premium for the creme de la creme. What's $1,000 for an LP if one has a 1/2-million dollar sound system, which I certainly don't! I personally don't "collect" LP's, I listen to ...
Ready to try vinyl
First I'd like to reiterate the suggestion of testing the waters with new or very clean LP's. Good condition, properly cleaned vinyl is very quiet. Listen to some LP's of music that you are very familiar with, of course. As a first step, try to do ...
SS Integrated amplifier advise, please
There are Plinius 8200 listed here on the 'Gon for well under your budget. Plenty of power, and it includes a nice phono stage. You might look for a pre-owned Electrocompaniet ECI-3 also.

No, I have not heard the LS3/5As. Sounds like a very uncluttered system...Try McMaster for the grill foam...I believe the address is in a previous post in this thread.

Rod, unless you don't intend to mount the Rodgers on stands, you're not going to be saving much room.
Best Rock Cartridge for Rega $600
A quick FYI...you can utilize the Grado wooden bodied cartridges on the Rega TT's. There is a 1.5mV output version available of most/all of the Reference series. No humming on my P25 at all.

Not dumb questions at all.I bought mine at www.oregondv.com. I'm sure there are other sources, but I found them quickly via a Yahoo search. If I recall correctly, the 7's are quite a bit larger than the original TW's. However, one is limited by the...
Review: DCM TimeWindow 1 Speaker
Just a quick update...intalled the floor spikes in the bottom plate of the TW's. As I had hoped, this tightened the bass and midbass up quite nicely. It improved the overall soundstage a bit also. This upgrade is a very nice "bang for the buck".
Mini monitors for vinyl....
I've owned the ST-140, warm. I had it paired with an Adcom GFP-565, and I wouldn't characterize the Adcom as warm. Depending on cabling, I'd call it a bit lean-to-neutral sounding. You should have a complementary pairing there.I second the recomme...
Best Speaker Placement Rules you've used?
I have used the directions on the Cardas and Audio Physic websites with excellent results. AP has changed their directions, and they aren't quite as well written as in the past.
Anyone retube VTL 5.5 w/phono
The VTL MB-125 mono's are a nice match, of course, which I ran for over a year. I also owned the ST-150, which had a bit more slam than the mono's, but not quite as nice thru the midrange and highs. I chalk this up to the 125's using EL-34 output ...
Anyone retube VTL 5.5 w/phono
I have no ownership experience with the 5.5, but I owned a 2.5 for several years. I found that the stock tubes in the line stage and phono stage were a bit on the noisy side. I also found that the Multicap upgrade quieted the preamp, but I believe...

Mark, In the floorstanding speaker section of eBay, I noticed a guy that had a pair of replacement tweeters for DCM speakers. I didn't look to see what else he may have on hand. You might try a search there? Seems like it might make some sense to ...
Cary SLI-80 Tube amp suddenly blowing fuses
John, you're definitely more on the ball than I am when it comes to this stuff. I've only owned VTL amps, and the Cary. With the VTL amps, one measures the voltage vs. the amperage. Of course, using your formula, it looks like one is actually indi...
Advice on Cary CD Players or other options.
I don't own a Cary CD player, YET. I do own a Cary SLI-80, which I enjoy very much. I'm chiming in for two reasons:1. Why would you second guess your purchase decision just because you heard some opinions on the 'Gon that are less than favorable t...
