Cartridge Limitations or Break In?
You're welcome, Grimace. It also could be the record, possibly from being played at too heavy tracking force.
Cartridge Limitations or Break In?
Hello Grimace, I respectfully disagree with the posts. A Shure cartridge not broken in will track most anything on this planet. Please recheck your setup and don't run it at the lowest tracking force, that can cause slight mistracking and not as g...
Just got my Scoutmaster, need setup suggestions...
Great post, Stringreen!

Hello Riley, have you considered an Origin table? Very good sounding, simpler than the LP12, and not a culture shock sonically from the LP12.
Tonearm relative to Plinth alignment
Hello Dusty, if you loosen the 3 bolts underneath there is a little bit of play to rotate it a bit for a slight amount of correction. The arm you have has a groove cut in the pillar so you cannot rotate the arm to swivel it to align.
New TT or old
A B&O cartridge would not be a very good match with modern medium mass tonearms. It is VERY low mass and requires a low mass arm, not very common nowadays. So buying a cartridge( if they still make them) with the idea of passing it to another ...

Any way to tell if stylus is chipped?
The only thing it can possibly sound like is BAAAD.
Knowing Nothing About Capacitance...
Hey Rich, the loading you are referring to is impedance, measured in ohms, not capacitance. Moving coil cartridges are not affected by capacitance. You also cannot hurt anything by having the incorrect loading, just different tonal balance.
Benz help
Hello Pablo, I've run across this frequently. I'm getting more and more convinced most anti-skate settings should be about half of the tracking force. If the cantilever is skewed it will sound better with it plays in the groove straight. I've take...
Audiophile turntables of the 60's and 70's
I had a DD40 then switched to an LP12 and eventually had a MA 505 arm on it as well.

A better record cleaning brush than the vpi brush
The Mobile Fidelity brush I prefer to the vpi, holds fluid a bit (therfore uses less)and the pads are replaceable.
How to change vacuum tubes on the VPI 16.5 ?
Hello Studio68, if you change tubes often you may want to get the whole assembly, including the black insert piece. Some folks change the tubes for dirtier/ cleaner albums. The old tube can be used for very dirty Lps and the newer for cleaner Lps.
Old B&O vs. new Rega P1
The B&O is a nice 'table especially if you do not compare it to other 'tables. I'm not missing anything not going to Hawaii but since I've never been, how would I know?
