MQA through Toslink
A reclocker that also converts to coax or usb might improve the sound anyway in that setup. Maybe even more than mqa will.
Wilson Speakers & Reviewers
Reviewers might need a speaker that works with many amps?I think there are a couple of reviewers that use DeVore, it's not only Wilsons.
Revel Salon 2’s (used) or new Magico A-3 (new) ??
Someone mentioned Focal Kanta 2 and those were among the most impressive speakers I heard at a show in Stockholm. The Wilson Sabrina also sounded good although only played at a low volume and might be found 2nd hand within your price range. If you ...
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD
I am also in the side that thinks that all common architectures (R2R, DS, FPGA) can work when implemented with care.Speaking of FPGA, have you read or listened to PS Audio and how they implemented the DirectStream Dac?I think the technical descrip...
New or Old CD Player?
I think there are many more combinations to choose from if you go with separates. It will probably be cheaper to just upgrade the dac later than to replace a whole player. There is still innovation around dacs and reclockers. And many dace has usb...
THE GRYPHON HAS LANDED at THE SHOW NEWPORT | THE SHOW JUNE 1-3 2018
I think it's great to see brands come back or reappear in a region or in the market at large. It means there are more brands to choose from and at at least some companies are keeping high-end audio alive. I remember the name Gryphon but I'm not su...
I have been using the Cambridge 851 CD player for a few years and want more.
A good dac, especially if you add a reclocker, would probably improve the sound a lot. Check other threads and forums for dac ideas. I would probably look into Chord Qutest, Denafrips, Soekris or a 2nd hand Shiit Yggdrasil.
Digital Audio for Dummies
For the ripping part Windows has a program called Windows Media Player built in that can rip audio cd's to mp3 (or wav). If you want something better and still easy to use you could check out dbPoweramp. It costs money but seems to be very easy an...

Ideas for my next DAC....?
If you're thinking about dCs then the TotalDac may be an option?I've only heard it at a show but it sounded Good there and it is said to have a very fluent sound.
Lampizator evolution
@rockyboy you can also add an external clock, like the ISO Regen to a dac. I think a good clock can improve the sound a lot.Have you checked other dacs like the Soekris or Denafrips?
Am I dreaming?
Does it have to be one box or should it just take less space?Project has a nice setup with very small components. Otherwise I agree with @soix , having the phono or phono+headphone part separate gives you many more options.
Just confused about where to start
Project amp box DS2 seems like a good amp for the money. I think I heard one or a similar Project amp at a show and the system sounded great.
What is your favorite system for an Office or a Secondary System
When someone says office system I assume headphones, I haven't had a private office in the last 20 years or so...
What is your favorite system for an Office or a Secondary System
For those looking for a less expensive office system I would look into PS Audio Sprout with some small speakers like KEF or Totem. For a little more I would try the Peachtree Nova or Project DS2 (pre + amp).
