Review: Grungebuster CD Mat Herbie's Audio Lab Tweak
The Grungebuster 2 is even better sonically. A great deal.
HFNR and antiskate on SME 3009/III
There is an excellent post on Audioasylum today about this. Go over there and read it. To simplify things, what you want to do with that section of the record is get it so that you get EQUAL (but low level buzzing) on each channel. Getting no buzz...
VR4 JR and VIBRAPODS... Good or bad match up?
I actually use the Herbie's under my DVD player with excellent results, but also use vibrapods under full range floorstanding speakers (with laminated or "security" glass between the carpet and the pods, which the speakers sit on) with excellent r...
What is the lowest LOMC you guys know of???
Whoa! How much gain do you need with a .015mv output?
Acoustic felt?
Most craft stores will sell felt, in various colours, which can be cut and layered to build up the desired thickness/size. Very inexpensive, easy to do; pick up some double sided tape and you're in business.
Counsel on adding dedicated lines
"If you have a main panel with glass fuses then it's time to update the service."I think this is a gross generalization at best, and at worst, advice that may end in degraded, as opposed to improved sound. Provided the size of the service is adequ...
What is the lowest LOMC you guys know of???
The Ortofon MC 5000 is about .140 mv or about half the output of the Denon. Not sure whether there's anything with a lower output, but I wouldn't be surprised if there is.
Counsel on adding dedicated lines
"Look at main panel replacement if you see glass fuses."Exactly why would one do this?
B&W Rip-Off
I have no experience with the product or the seller, but frankly, the smarmy dismissal of all audiophile things Chinese on Audiogon is comical. I have a $400 Jungson integrated amp that I bought 2nd hand here for $325 that makes the Audiolab 8000A...
Budget amp suggestions for Totem Model 1?
Jungson JA 88C ($400 new). Here's a thread in which another owner prefers it to the Plinius 9200 which he owned:http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?aamps&1121512271&openflup&2&4#2Not aggressive, also extremely good at low level...
A good inexpensive integrated for Totem Sttaf's
Jungson JA 88C. Do some research on it and buy it; you won't be disappointed. $400 new.
CD Redbook versus DVD Audio
I agree Eldartford; insert, press play, listen. I don't see how it can get any less complicated or easy to use.
CD Redbook versus DVD Audio
I've owned a Panasonic DVD S47 for about 6-7 months now and just recently bought a Jack Bruce DVDA recording done at 24/96. The S47 sounds pretty decent on redbook (I've damped the chassis pretty extensively, upgraded the power cord and run it thr...
Integrated amp, looking for suggestions & comments
Jungson JA 88D. $400 new. Very minimalist (2 single ended and one balanced input), built like a tank (more like a $1500 tank), good remote. Great performance for the money. On the warm side of neutral with a "mid-hall" perspective.
Beginnners question - Phono stage
Generally speaking, you need to look at the output of the cartridge and then look at the gain provided by the phono stage and match them up. You can look here for a guideline:http://db.audioasylum.com/cgi/m.mpl?forum=vinyl&n=271912&highlig...
