Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
I find that it's not so dead nuts reliable when the tach is set to Hold, as it has been on Run. Lew,If the TT-101 does not display 33.33 and 45.00 when set to 'Hold'....it is not performing correctly...πŸ˜₯If you have the Manual downloaded from Viny...

I am surprised no one responded to my fitting the iec socket. I believe it to be a very worthwhile improvement. I suspect it effects a real improvement Aigenga......but we need photos to appreciate exactly what and HOW you did it...β“πŸ‘€

Hi Shane (Downunder),I'll be interested to hear what you think of the Jico mats on your P3 and P10.I notice that you now use the bare copper platter on the Raven AC-3 which puts you in a good position to evaluate the effectiveness of the suede mat...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
Hi Griff,I have not tried an acrylic mat....I've tried the Micro Seiki Cu180 which surprisingly sounds the same as the thinner Jico mat on my TT-101.I've also tried the carbon fibre Millennium mat as well as various felt mats and about 4 or 5 othe...

Lew,You need to realise that when a Post contains a word, phrase or Link appearing in purple writing underlined......that it is 'clickable' and will take to a photo or page which the author wishes you to see....😜The Victor Pigskin mat is shown by ...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
We all know that the majority of 70s and 80s Japanese DD turntables came supplied with the ubiquitous thick moulded rubber platter mats.....yet a company like Victor, discovered that these mats....whilst damping the aluminium platter....suppressed...

Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
Hi Lew,I sincerely hope you've solved the problem permanently...πŸ‘€β“I seem to remember some 'false' hopes previously....❓Whilst you are making up your attached platform....it is easy enough to mount a tonearm on something like...oh, I dunno....a can...
Skeletal vs Plinth style turntables
Sorry Aigenga,I should have been more explicit.I was answering Chris' question about the Raven and its 'slight' retardation when viewed against the Timeline and then compared it to the Feikert figure for the same thing. What most people don't reali...
Skeletal vs Plinth style turntables
Wide awake now Chris....πŸ‘€ Now Henry can confirm better, but if I recall he said that the timeline on the Raven turntable moved; but that it moved slowly and consistently. This implied that his turntable although not right at 33.3, maybe a little a...
Skeletal vs Plinth style turntables
Further to the above02-10-15: RichardkrebsI do not understand how the time line test proves that the pod is not moving? All it is measuring is the platter's speed.A basic understanding of the physics involved would help.Halcro's TT is a direct dr...
vintage versus modern speakers
Larryi makes some valid points....I continue to hear modern speakers which leave me befuddled....yet clearly remember the original Martin Logan CLS electrostatic speakers from the '80s.....a sound (admittedly on smaller scaled music) which I have ...

I must be dreaming.......

Skeletal vs Plinth style turntables
Richardkrebs,The Timeline works by detecting stylus drag which is caused by friction. To make an armpod move via the stylus/tonearm it must be solely by the friction (stylus drag) which is your hypothesis....You need to understand and appreciate th...
