Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Sarcher,You are quite right about the lack of 'love' here for Shure cartridges. In fact I wrote a post here about just that nearly a year ago.If you visit other Forums, you will see the great love for the Shure V15 in all its configurations....espe...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Fleib,Quote from you on another Audio Site 15th Jan 2015...If the generators of the 7Su is the same as the 20, then the 7LCa is odd man out. It's 5mV, 550mH, 800/900 ohms. The 7Su is an earlier generation having a round plug? I believe the 7LCa has...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Greetings Professor,I'm wondering in your experience with the JVC Z1/SAS...whether you experimented with loading?Don loads his at 100K Ohms whilst I've found that 60K Resistance plus 150pF or so of added Capacitance eliminates the mid-bass to midr...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Fleib,Anyway, what does my experience with a particular model have to do with Raul's opinion? I was defending his right to his opinion, not the content. That's admirable.....but I'm struggling to find anywhere is my Posts where you could construe t...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Fleib,I seem to remember specific criticism, why the TK7LCa was not recommended. Please refresh my memory....While the 5Ea, 7Ea, 7SU, and 7LCa share the same body and your opinion may differ with stylus substitution, none of those other relatively...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? The central theme for me is that every one of these cartridges that you guys are still discussing was once recommended by Raul, for at least a week until his attention was diverted to some other cartridge. Not on my watch.....Apart from the JVCs....
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Sarcher,Don is right on this one....you not only got a bargain but with the SAS on the Z1 you could well stop trying other cartridges...πLet us know your impressions....if you can pull yourself away from listening....β
Phono amps or stages for high-output cartridges? There are some high-end phono stages designed for high-output MM cartridges like Ypsilon VPS100 and the super Kondo GE-1.There are a few others for a lower budget, but if you want the best....those two should have you covered...π
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? Fleib,Speaking of assumptions.....I'm assuming that you don't actually own a periphery clamp as I do...βYou are probably correct in that the use of one together with a centre clamp/weight applies pressure more evenly across the record/platter inte...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? Lew,I appreciate that Fleib has a deerskin mat....It was the lack of a record weight and his doubt about its benefit that I was referring to...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? Fleib,http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?eanlg&1317949815&openflup&355&4#355I have a number of record weights ranging from 450Gm to 600Gm.They all perform their task adequately....
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? A heavy weight will only create a solid bond in the center label area of the record, maybe slightly further. I think a clamp would be as affective preventing movement of both record and mat. It's intriguing that people would rather theorise or spec...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? All these leather mats are designed to be used with heavy record weights.Use of them without weights is not creating a solid bond and also allows the lightweight mats to move against the platter....

Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? The glass platter mat arrived yesterday beautifully packaged and included an ingenious silicone rubber record puck which squeezes the record onto the the vinyl without adding weight over the spindle..πThe glass mat is beautifully made and I tested... |
