What Speaker are Great for Rock and Roll $5K-20K
Honestly the best speaker for rock and roll that I can think of would be the new McIntosh XRT30 which we have here on the floor. They are $25,000 per pair, so just out of your posted range. However...The speakers are flat to 16 Hz., and will play ...
Speaker placement at dealers
Sean - I know of Victor's. He was down here in our part of town actually. We do the same thing basically. We piece together a system on the spot for a customer, being careful not to move those items that need to be warmed up, but keeping only one ...
Speaker placement at dealers
Most dealers are pretty clueless when it comes to this sort of thing. We keep only one pair of speakers in any of our listening rooms at a given time. I can't imagine auditioning speakers any other way, so why should I expect my customers to be le...
Black Diamond Racing/VPI Vibration Control
The BDR stuff works great w/VPI - I have not experimented with that exact kit but in general I've had really good luck with BDR under the TNT and Aries tables.
Please Help: Replacing tubes on ASL MG-Head
If memory serves the older non-OTL version had the same tube complement as the current version. If that's the case, you're looking at two EL84's for output and a 12AX7 for a double triode. Currently they are shipping the unit with Sovtek EL84's an...
Two different amps to horizontal bi amp?
With regard to the question of monoblocks vs. bridged stereo amps.Generally speaking stereo amps do not increase current output when they are bridged into mono. You may see an increased wattage spec but the current output is typically not much hig...
Review: Lumen White White Flame Speaker
FYI Audio Valve is no longer imported by Victor Goldstein/Fanfare International. There is a new importer, whose info you can view on the Audio Valve website:http://www.audiovalve.deI feel that the Eklipse is one of the best sounding linestages for...
Review: Klipsch Klipschorn Speaker
No - I would agree. Horns honk. I cannot listen to them. I don't care what horns we are talking about, Klipsch or Avant Garde or whatever other exotic horn design you want to bring up. The midrange is closed down, and horribly colored. The highs t...
Tubed pre-amp w/ balanced outputs?
Ditto on the C2200 - it's a great choice.
Two different amps to horizontal bi amp?
Sean is right - gain is one problem. Another is time and phase errors introduced by mixing and matching amps. Unless you use exactly the same amp (and I do mean the same model - not just the same manufacturer because some manufacturers are not con...
Shelter 501 with Wilson Benesch?
Just as an aside, if you don't like the Shelter on the WB arm, try the WB cartridges. Their own cartridges are awesome - I love them. Their higher end carbon fibre bodied models are really exceptional, but even their entry level models are quite s...
Your Favorite Holiday Recordings Are?
Cantante Domino - this is a fabulous recording of beautifully performed choral works with some nice organ too. The vinyl is mind blowing, but the CD is thoroughly enjoyable too.http://store.acousticsounds.com/store.cfm?Title_ID=7086&do=detailI...
Pre-amp for McIntosh MC-352
How about the McIntosh C2200 - the new tube preamp from Mac. It's a killer preamp and a great match with the MC352. We've sold it with the 602 and 1201 mostly, but it would be great on a 352 as well.
Rega P25 Tonearm Lift
Ok a couple of thoughts...First of all what you need to do is simply adjust the tonearm lift. There is a hex set screw that adjusts the height of the lift and you simply need to get that hex key from Rega. I suggest you contact your local dealer o...
Will an entry level Project or MusicHall be enough
The best starter table around is the Rega P2 hands down. Smokes the MMF and Project stuff.
