Plinius class A vs. class AB sound difference? Whether or not you hear a difference between the two modes of operation on a given amp like the Plinius is going to depend on several factors. The first is how much power your speakers require to generate your average listening levels. This is dir...
VPI 16.5 v 17.0 We recommend the Disc Doctor fluid - we find it does the best job and it is perfectly safe to use with the VPI machines.
integrated amp for $1500? If you can up your budget a tiny bit our demo Belles 250i would definitely be an excellent solution for you. It's a 125 wpc. hybrid with a tube preamp and solid state poweramp. Remote volume and mute. Awesome sound, outboard power supply, full rec...
VPI 16.5 v 17.0 That really depends on what you are doing. The 16.5 does a great job. The 17 has the benefit of a fan so you can clean more records back to back if you are going to be going through large numbers in a short period of time. It is also bi-directiona...
pre/pro with 2nd zone The Sherbourn pre/pro has a second zone that is pretty easy to use - we have sold some to customers who are looking to do HT or multi-zone setups. It is not super expensive and has all the bells and whistles you need (including an onboard tuner) I...
Wilson Benesch Arc Speakers? We are Benesch dealers so I realize I am biased - but I own a pair of Arc's myself. They are that good. Until you get to the DIscovery's at $8200/pair you can't approach the sound of the Arc's. They are awesome speakers.
Cartridge Alignment Newbie Question It's hard for me to say from what you are describing if the cartridge is properly aligned or not. However I will say that the alignment gauge that comes with the Rega tables is not terribly good - I never use them when aligning cartridges for cust...
Anybody remember G.A.S. Taters - we're in Chicago.
Anybody remember G.A.S. We have the new Ampzilla 2000 monoblocks in our store. They are truly awesome amps, worthy of the Ampzilla name.
What stand does you Turntable sit on? Best racks I've ever worked with for turntables are Rix Rax:http://www.rixrax.comHowever if they are out of your price range, or not your style, the second best solution is a wall mounted shelf. I prefer the Quadraspire (www.quadraspire.co.uk) to ...
Impedance Help With such a high input impedance you are probably ok but let's find out what the output impedance of the CDP is. If you tell me the brand of cables I can tell if capacitance will be an issue.
Impedance Help I like to see 100:1 if possible. I do not frankly believe that 10:1 is sufficient. If 100:1 is not possible, 50:1 or higher is ok. It's not set in stone, but I have found that 10:1 is not really enough of a ratio.
5 way binding post connection advice Bare wire is best - the solder/tin advice is not advice I would take for a number of reasons. A crimped connection is better than a soldered one. Also I do not believe the old wisdom regarding spades - they do not offer the most surface area contac...
What Speaker are Great for Rock and Roll $5K-20K Well I surely do not agree with Phasecorrect. With all due respect, I think it's ridiculous to assert that rock and roll does not deserve superior speakers or warrant spending $5k.Are you trying to tell me that Pink Floyd's The Wall sounds just as...
Possible to run a turntable direct to an amp? Get a Manley Steelhead - possibly the best phono stage around. Has variable output, can drive long cable runs, and the new version (coming out at CES) will have a line level input so you can actually use it as a preamp, not just a phono stage. |
